Many celebs have attached their names to various classy restaurants and Chennai too has been left touched by this trend. ‘Godka by Simran’ is the new name to join the celeb-starrer bandwagon by opening a charming eatery in Sholinganallur area. The restaurant falls near to Akkarai Water Tank Junction on East Coast Road and is operational the entire day. The name surprisingly has nothing to do with divine intervention or vodka.

The restaurant is best known as former Tollywood actress’s Simran Bagga’s arrival into the gastronomy world. It’s located just above the actress’s fashion boutique which you can explore between meals. Upon entering you may be expecting a glamourous bling kind of décor but it’s refreshing to find it simple and classy. Interiors create a subtle balance between artsy and chic. Heavy polished wooden tables dominates the scene, gleaming underneath the crystal chandeliers which happen to be the only indulgence in glam factor. Rest of the room is split between the warm brown tones and soft mint green to act as a relief. Restaurant is generously spacious and cosy. Skip the formal tables and take up the sofas in the corner to be more comfortable. Godka by Simran has an elegant, appealing and cosy sort of ambience.

Food is another of their key factor. Menu is a mouth-watering compilation of North-Indian, Seafood, Continental and Chinese cuisines. Length is quite extensive and detailed. It’s pocket-friendly too which is an added blessing. Stuffed mushroom, drums of heaven, chicken banjara tikka, hand breaded calamari, dragon king prawn, paneer nawabi tikka, crispy vegetables, pla tod nam prik pow, Chongqing chicken satay, fish phadi kebab and mutton boti kebab, will serve you as first course. Excite your palate further with a range of delicious mains which features, curries, Chinese gravies, noodles, flatbreads, biryanis and grilled seafood. For a sweet adieu opt for shahi tukra, mango mud cake, honey glazed noodles, gulab jamun with ice cream and strawberry panna cotta.
