Gujraj Veg Restaurant

Gujraj Veg Restaurant is a restaurant in Periyamet, Chennai serving North Indian and ice cream. Known for North Indian dishes; ideal for family meals and group outings.

A multi-cuisine restaurant that specialises in Gujarati, Rajasthani, Punjabi and a mix of North Indian and Chinese is GujRaj, located near Periamet Chennai.
To run a pure vegetarian outlet in the local haven for exclusive non-vegetarians is audacious. The ambience is so somber one had to strain to read the menu. With adequate seating, the service is moderate. The pricing is slightly dearer.
The menu has a seperate breakfast listing and there are also a variety of limited thalis to choose from.
The food is authentic and delicious, almost everything we ordered was gobsmacking good. The Lemon Coriander soup, Paneer Burji and Bhindi Pepper fry need special mention.
The entire exploit went smooth but not without a few hiccups.
For one, the charge an insane amount for packing your food - both, takeaways and your leftovers. Infact, there was a fall-out with the counter staff and a client in full view of the dining area.
Secondly, another set of diners left in disdain because they were told "Limited Thali Meals" cannot be shared amongst a couple. One can understand if it was an unlimited thali. But for a limited one, it definitely defied logic.
Also, the guy behind the billing counter seemed to be a novice, wanting constant help and support.
A quick washdown of these lags and GujRaj is set to shine on!

The food is really delicious here.
So many varieties of North Indian Dishes.
I tired Panner Tawa Pulao (recommended from my end) and Paratha.
But they did not accept payment through Swiggy Dineout. This is bad. (If not, it was a 5 Star)
The price was reasonable.

Wow wow wow!! My first meal in India after arriving and I’m in heaven! I don’t eat very spicy and it was perfect, they adjusted it for me. Very very deliscious, big portions and friendly staff. I’ll come back! Greetings from Germany

Delicious north Indian food. Rate is little high. Indoor atmosphere is nice. Convenient for family and small groups. Situated in a narrow street. Parking facility is low. Not far away from Chennai Central Railway & metro station. But, you have to travel more distance if coming from railway station end. This restaurant is a part of hotel A K international and it is little difficult to locate as the restaurant board is very small.

It takes something special to draw me back almost every day, and this place has it all. The vibe is immaculate—they've absolutely nailed the ambience. Paired with genuinely great food and service from a super-friendly staff, it creates an experience that's consistently wonderful. Highest recommendation! Definitely interact with the staff, Mr. Chhatrapathi, Sameer and Kamlesh for any assistance. Lastly, Definitely try their Gola.

I recently visited this veg restaurant and had an overall okay experience. We tried the Dal Bati, but unfortunately, the bati was quite hard—maybe it was just the chef’s off day???.The Dal itself was decent, though.
As for the Veg Punjabi Thali, it was neither exceptional nor disappointing—just average. It was filling, but nothing to rave about. The Butter Milk was definitely the highlight of the meal , it was refreshing and well-made. The Papad was just okay—nothing special. Overall, the food was alright for the price, but I’m hoping for better consistency in the future.

Maybe you must try this restaurant yourself. This isn’t a full review—perhaps the chef was having an off day, or maybe my taste buds were on vacation, or I just wasn’t in the mood for eating. Regardless, I encourage you to give it a go and see for yourself

We're a family of 4, we ordered roasted masala khichiya, Gujarati thali, dal batti thali, then bhakri, bajra rotlo, missi roti, sev tamatar sabji and stuffed brinjal subji. All were great, served quickly and hot with adequate quantity. Recommended for veg lovers craving for Gujarati cuisine

Rated 3 Star because food is actually good. But had alot of concerns
1. They have many rules & regulations such as You cannot apply walk in dineout offers (Swiggy, zomato)
2. Booking table(Swiggy/zomato) should be informed prior placing order
3. Thalis, beverage, breakfast is not included in dineout offers. You have to pay separately for that
4. They are very Kanjoos and money caring people. They don't care about customer's service
5. Apart of negativity, Food taste is genuinely nice
