Mainland China is the leading Chinese cuisine connoisseur that offers an array of delectable dishes inspired from the heart of China. This chain of restaurant is a staple for Chinese cuisine enthusiasts across the country. The Chinese-style decor that is very well done with lanterns, countless pictures of dragons, Chinese landscape and statuettes make for a nice background for a family selfie. For when you want to feast on a spiffy Chinese menu, Mainland China is ideal. Start off with the dim sum platters or the dumplings here before you move on to the more filling options like ‘Prawns in Chilli Oyster Sauce’ or ‘Tsing Hoi Chicken’. There is the ‘Sliced Chicken with Kafir Lime’, the ‘Roast Duck in Chilli Plum Sauce’, the ‘Roast Lamb in Mahlak Sauce’ and more. You can pair these up with their ‘Lemongrass Fried Rice’ or their ‘Chilli Garlic Noodles’. Not too sure about what to order? No worries; the staff will readily help you out, based on your taste preferences.
Being a die hard fan of the outlet in Andheri, Mumbai, I went with high expectations here. From soups, starters and the main course the buffet meal was pathetic. How can the chef screw up fried rice and haka noodles also? I feel blessed to have the best chef in Mumbai.
A group of 8 hungry men, a restaurant closing in 30 mins and losing your way to the outlet. You’d think the group went hungry or gave up going to the outlet or made a hash of it after reaching late. It was neither. The staff proactively called us to say they were closing and would be around if we weren’t too late. End result was tasty food served with passion and a fantastic Friday night. We ran through corn chilli pepper with kaffir like - easily Mainland China Restaurant’s best starter dish, sui mai or dim sum and crispy lotus stem black pepper in about 10 mins. They were served hot. Main course were vegetable fried rice, Japanese wheat noodles accompanied by lemongrass vegetable in cilantro sauce and vegetable dumplings in chilli soya sauce. The taste of all the dishes is distinctive with the flavours hitting home with first bite. Great staff, tasty food, upmarket but quiet location and efficient service made for a great Friday night. To the service crew - a big thank you for the proactiveness and courteous service. Parking isn’t an issue. My request knowing it’s a listed company is to increase portion sizes which have come down since going public a few years ago
Awesome starters, tasty food, nice service. Valet parking available. Reasonable price. Suggest you reserve your table before you visit especially during weekends.
I visited this lovely restaurant again after many months. The interiors look plush and lovely as always. I had a crackling spinach and fresh lime soda which were both great and fresh. They have many new additions to the menu. They offer dimsums, plus great veg items plus non-veg items too and noodles. Manager very courteous and so are waiters. Had just a snack this time.
Booked Mainland China dinner buffer through EazyDiner . It was mentioned Rs.999/ discounted to Rs.499/ with unlimited mocktails which seemed like an excellent deal. Went with my wife and 2 kids. We have had food at Mainland China several times before and have always felt that it was top class. This was until few years back. Keeping that in mind, we were hoping for a sumptuous buffet spread but what we got was a total disappointment..Soup and starters are served at our table. We were given Tomato soup which tasted worse than a store bought readymade soup. We asked for other options and we were given Sweet and Sour soup which was also just ordinary. Since the offer mentioned unlimited mocktails, we were hoping for several options but what we got was some readymade juice mix. That was the only option available which again tasted hopeless. There were 4 or 5 vegetarian appetizers. Appetizers are their highlight and they tasted fairly decent. Again main course did not have major options..We settled for some noodles and rice with a curry. Just ordinary...They had 4 or 5 desserts apart from ice cream..It was OK. Overall, very disappointing...If the real cost for this buffett is Rs.999/-, I would not expect many people to go there. In fact, when we went there on a saturday evening which is the peak time, very few tables were filled up. I think Mainland China is going downhill atleast at this location.. I hope some corrective action is taken by the management soon as I have loved the food they have served before.
