The restaurants specialises in cuisines from the eastern coast of India, primarily Konkan. The coastal flavours can be properly tasted because of the traditional methods of cooking used. A hot cup of filter coffee is recommended before or after the meal. The karaikuddi pepper chicken is a recipe from Tamil Nadu where the chicken is cooked with pepper and curry leaves. Similar to other coastal dishes, this dish is peppery and pungent but otherwise pleasant.
We visited Samudra for a business dinner. we were seated promptly and staff were there to assist us. We ordered various dishes and every one of them was prepared to taste and we relished them. We ordered Keera Vadai and Paniyaram for starters. Idli and Chutney for main course. Chutneys were superb. We had also ordered some Qorma. The only disadvantage I saw was that in the menu served up at the restaurant, there was no clear indication of which one is Vegetarian and which isn't. The standard Red, Green and Brown dot notation wasn't there. One dish we ordered landed up as non-vegetarian and we had to refuse it.
I keep on visiting this restaurant regularly and it never let me down. Good raw material, excellent mis au plat, great service and wide variety of veg and non veg dishes. They also adapt those to the European “spice” standards. If you’re in the nearby, don’t doubt and give them a chance to surprise you.
We had dinner here twice and on both occasions were very pleased with the food. There was plenty of choice and service was very helpful. This was some of the best food we had in India.
This was our first visit to Samudra, and I am delighted to say it has maintained the exceptional standards that set this place apart. It is light and airy yet cozy; the staffs are very friendly and attentive. The service was fantastic, but the real star was Mr. Sai. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was Brilliant, flavorsome, innovative, the meal simply could not be faulted. Do yourself a favor and eat here, try the Goan Prawn Curry, they will bring you back again!
Went there last night with 3 others. One of us is a vegetarian. As we have not tried their menu for, we left the food selection to the chef. The dishes were for sharing and each dish he selected for us were yummy. The fish was very good and they also offer vegetarian Indian coastal variety. Their Samudra Daal is top-notch.
