Located at Cathedral Road in Chennai. It is a well-lit space with simple interiors, psychedelic lighting and comfortable seating arrangements. Vegetarians have fewer options as the menu of Sera caters more to Non-Vegetarians. Feast on 'Aubergine Lasagna', 'Pasta', 'Chicken Breast Exotica', 'Beer Batter Fried Fish' with 'Tomato Salsa' and 'Lamb Pot Pie'.
During my last visit to Chennai, Bala at the front office in Welcomhotel Chennai recommended this place. Its a very popular local joint in Chennai, India known for Tapas - basically Small plates of food/starters in Spanish and cocktails. It was just across the road from the hotel. The ambiance is a typical low lit bar with old english classics live in the back ground - really old school and nostalgic. I really liked it. As you can see they have an extensive menu with enough vegetarian options - funnily enough none of the vegetarian options is a traditional tapas dish. The one go to dish they should have had is Patatasbravas - its basically potato wedges with a Romesco - roasted red pepper sauce, lot of smoky flavor. They have a wide range of cocktails - I stuck with the martinis as I d had a long day and just wanted to taste some of they well know menu items. The wasabi martini - wasabi is horseradish (similar to muli) paste used as a condiment - like a an add on to japanese dishes. Its is very strong and has a very different spice then chilles. I know people who really relish this who for what ever reason have given up chillies. The bad part is 90% of wasabi is fake and maybe more then that in India - as orignal wasabi is very expensive they make the paste out of artificial flavoring. Getting back to point - the wasabi martini was too strong, no subtle with a hint of wasabi as it is supposed to have. No other flavor was discernible. Followed it up with a strawberry, basil and black pepper martini that was a little sweet but much better. Had one of their specials, cottage cheese and stir fried veggies which they promised was spicy but was not quite there. Well the place is nice and drinks are good - the starter I had was a bit disappointing and so I went for dinner at the adjoining Va Pho Asian Canteen - would I come here, definately - as you see there is lot on the menu to try.
Excellent food and starter option, made to order food too. as it was weekday crowd was less but music was good.
They’ve got their vibe on. Great cocktails, good variety of really tasty tapas to suit all palates and their DJ has some awesome mixes. Not a cheap eat, but worth a visit if you want an experience and not just some food. Nice service too
Straight to the point - it’d be a 5 if it had a poster of the Goddess of Flamenco - The Late Carmen Amaya. The sangria wasn’t close to even 50% of the real deal. The place was quite busy for a Friday night and the tapas wasn’t really what I’d call tapas- try most of their short eats as tapas and you’ll know what I mean
The cocktails are awesome and with funny name's! The food is good unlike most of the pubs that concentrate only on drinks. They give importance to food too!
