Thai Food House is an unpretentious little restaurant serving legit, no-fuss Thai food. A sensibly warm service skips the obligatory miang kham and lets you dive straight into an extensive illustrated menu. The flavours are bold, and noticeably unrestrained compared to eateries that have tweaked dishes for the local palate. However, amateurish kitchen skills are what might have been an absolute winner.
We loved the tom yum soup, the pad thai noodles and the garlic shrimp. Nice place to have a taste of real thai food.
Very nice restaurant, with premium quality service and very good thaï food. Large choice of seafood, chicken, pork or vegan food.
Arrived late night at Chennai & this place was closest to our hotel. Plastic menu. No Singha beer, so served draft beer in metal cups, was not a good start. Chicken satay tasted like it had been hanging around to be eaten. Vegetable spring-rolls tasteless. Lesson for us here was eat in haste, repent at leisure. Declined to order a main course.
I noticed this place when passing Crowne Plaza (it's right next to it) and/or heading towards St. Mary's road and was immediately enticed by how "hidden" it was. So I thought, "time to go check if it's the proverbial hidden 'gem'", and my goodness it so is! I'll admit to not having checked out a lot of the menu (because I was honestly craving some satay and Green Curry...like big time!), and I was absolutely not disappointed. They were as lip smacking as can be, to the point where I just had to take some home to enjoy bit by bit for the next couple of days to come - oh I do loved it! I would totally return to Thai Food Palace, frequent it AND recommend it too to as many as I possibly can. Plus it doesn't break your wallet and the staff have complete Thai courtesy (meaning they're all smiles and polite). Also, there's that pleasant Thai music and this fragrance that really transports you out of the hustle bustle of the city. PS- since I learnt the owner (who is Italian btw) has an Italian restaurant too (my next favourite cuisine after Thai, no less!), I'll be sure to make a beeline straight there soon. Pps- only thing....the WiFi and general reception is a tad sucky (hence I didn't insta-it like I'd've liked to)....but I guess that should only mean you'd need to focus on your good time n good food while you're there! Ppps- The parking scene looked like it might need a LOT of improvement, but I'm unsure of it since I cabbed it there.
This place offers pretty nice thai food. The service is good and the food is tasty. Parking is a great issue with only street parking available.
Thai food is all about the balance and it takes years for a chef to perfect the balance. Cooking Thai food comes with a precision of flavours that need to marry each other just right to find that kick. The ingredients have to come together and blend seamlessly to create one big picture of perfection. Chennai is a hub of global cuisines and Thai fare is one of them. Although the cuisine still has to find the popularity like Italian and Chinese, it does have a good fan base. Many locals have developed the taste for Thai food and appreciate the aromatic nature of this wonderful cuisine. Talking about Thai food in Chennai and not mentioning ‘Thai Food House’ would be a sacrilege. The restaurant is a most favourite spot to grab a lavish Thai dinner with your companions. Diners adore the ambience and menu.
If there is one word we would use to describe the décor of Thai Food House then it will be ‘dramatic’. The intense dramatic interiors pull in a lot of regulars religiously who just love their bright red walls. The vibrant colour does bring in the intensity that puts their balanced food in sharp relief. A series of modern lamps casts a dim glow about the room, waking up the dull corners with their golden haze. Couples find the dimly lit ambience of Thai Food House ideal for cosy chats and secluded rendezvous. Walls carry traditional Thai motifs which only elevates the theme. Ask your server to place you beside the windows – they are the best seats in the house. Just sit back and relax here. Their idea is to give you a sense of peace through their décor and their cooking.
Thai Food House prepares authentic Thai food in their kitchen. They proudly bring to you lovely array of Thai food to entice your taste buds. They encourage you to start with, vegetables Thai tempura, deep fried squids, silken tofu salad, papaya salad with prawns, spicy & sour clear soup, Thai satay with peanut sauce, corn fritters, glass noodles salad with seafood. Tom kha coconut soup, pak choi with mushrooms sauce and prawns & crab cake. Pick a bowl of Phad Thai or jasmine rice to accompany your gravies – they have an exhaustive variety. As grand finale opt for sticky coconut rice with mango or water chestnuts dumpling in coconut syrup. Thai Food House is reasonable and very pocket-friendly.
