Park Hyatt’s website describes The Dining Room as a warm, familial dining space in an imaginary Tamil textile merchant’s household from which the hotel seeks inspiration. The imagination is not far-fetched, as the ornate front doors span open to a space that serves everything - from a lunch room to a coffee shop and even moonlights as Beyond Madras - much like its versatile namesake at our homes. It is nigh impossible to dine in peace when the Flying Elephant is in full swing. Expect thumping EDM, selfie troupes and tipsy high heels to spill across the lotus pool.
The restaurant is located in the Park Hyatt Chennai hotel. Good modern design. There is a wonderful terrace. Great service. Great buffet. But you can order and à la carte. All dishes are perfectly cooked. The wine list is small.
Seafood has always been my weakness. The freshness of the sea with every bite is how I like my dishes. I had an opportunity to visit The Dining Room at Park Hyatt, Chennai for their seafood festival. The buffet spread is available for dinner along with live grills. You get to choose your seafood, the marination and the way you want it cooked. We started the meal with Pepper Prawns that come with crunchy onions black peppers. The next was Stir Fried Squid which was a simple sauté of fresh squid and spices. The highlight of the meal was whole Grilled Barramundi Fish with Nilgiri masala which made with a marination of coriander, mint and lemon juice. Soft and juicy fish that melts at the first bite. The Fish Recheado which comes from Goa blew my mind away with the brilliant marinade. All the grills come with different dips—mango and pineapple, cucumber and yogurt and onion and chilli. I have always been a rice eater and I absolutely loved the Prawn Biriyani which was filled with flavours of the prawn and saffron. I also liked the Alleppey Fish Curry with string hoppers. Soak the string hoppers in the sweet and tangy curry and top it with few pieces of fish. I liked my curry more with the rice and some pappad (the South Indian in me I tell you!) Don’t forget to save some space for delicious desserts as well. I absolutely fell in love with the crispy and soft churros that come with chocolate, apple cinnamon and caramel dips
Been to the Dining Room at Park Hyatt,must say they have very Professional and customer friendly staff.The food was awesome.Shoma and Vishal went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and served me pretty well.
Yesterday I just visited the restaurant with my family we had dinner there. The quality of food is superb and it was very delicious and the hospitality from the staff was very brilliant. I must say customer service is very good. Subham was very friendly and took good care of us. We'll visit again very soon.
Been to The Dining room at Park Hyatt Velacherry. Though I had been to Flying Elephants many times this is the first time to The Dining room. The food served was delicious from the a-la cart menu .They also had a good spread for the buffet.Gagan and Herin were friendly and best at what they were doing. Good customer service and finally a big thanks to Balaji the chef for the wonderful cake . A pleasant suprise and sure to make a visit again with my kids.

Décor of The Dining Room is inspired by a Tamil household, showcasing objects that belong in every common regional house. They have tried to retain the modern aspects yet show the patrons a glimpse into old Madras. Furniture is a lovely warm wooden colour with carved legs, which is quintessential southern India. As a pop of colour, modern artwork made out of silk thread spool hangs on the wall. Bright red straight back sofas also lends the much needed vibrancy to the room. If you are looking for romance, sit beside the pool.

The restaurant remains open 24X7 so a diner can walk in anytime for a memorable meal. Menu as expected of an all-day dining restaurant, is global so expect to enjoy Continental, South-Indian and North-Indian cuisines. Pick, beetroot & goat cheese salad, kodi vepudu, paneer tikka, rich fish & seafood soup, podi idly, murgh tikka in appetizers and lamb burger, pan fried sea bass fillet, aubergine stacks, roasted chicken, bhuna gosht and paneer lababdar in main course. The Dining Room may cost a bundle but experience is worth it.
