IF LONGEVITY in a challenging market is the hallmark of a successful restaurant, 56 Ristorante Italiano definitely belongs to that prized category. For starters, this Vatika Group restaurant, a favourite of award givers, has got its basics right. It has a media-shy Italian chef, Alessandro Mariani, who lets his work speak for him. Its ambience exudes romance, a feeling you'd not normally associate with the clutter and confusion of Golf Course Road, and its stained glass panels combined with a high ceiling give you the feeling that you are in a well-designed modern chapel. It is indeed a tranquil getaway on one of the busiest roads in Gurgaon, but it wouldn't have had its steady band of followers – in the offices above and in the neighbourhood – had Mariani not got his food right. From his smoked salmon bruschetta and barbecue salsa-laced chicken spiedini, to his famed broth of seasonal vegetables, to the rock lobster spaghetti (the most expensive item on the menu and also the most memorable), lamb ossobucco and chicken involtini, and of course, the drop-dead gorgeous tiramisu, Mariani makes sure no visit to the restaurant is a cause for disappointment.
What a great environment. The restaurant has high ceilings with palm trees inside. The tables are set far apart, so you don't feel like you're dining with your neighbors. The best thing for me was that the music was not so loud (like most restaurants in Gurgaon) that you could actually have a conversation with the people at your table without shouting. Service and food were also nice.
we went for the first time, it was very good. Ambience, Service, Food, Quality. I did not find flaw. They didn't had powder cheese, but we can excuse that !!! overall value !!! Everything tasted authentic and we were very happy with the portions. The ambience is good. the service charge is high. But its worth it. The fare is very well prepared. You cannot find fault with the preparation.
Walked into this place with mixed feelings but was taken aback by the authenticity of the place and the subtle ambience. The dishes we ordered were extremely delicious with great care given even to the veggies on side which were perfectly grilled! We wanted to go for a dessert too but were filled with the excellent portion sizes of main course already. Sangria was delightful as well. Could have been a little less sweeter though! Shall definitely visit this place sometime again..
We were a group of 5 families and ordered various dishes across pastas pizzas and meats. The ravioli with spinach was particularly good though the quantity was rather small. On the stewards recommendation I had ordered the lamb shank and was pleasantly surprised at how soft and tender the meat was. Will certainly recommend this for non-vegetarians. The only disadvantage was, being a group of 15 people we would have rather sat on a round table, but that was not possible due to the shape of the restaurant.
Amazing Pasta. Though found no crowd today, the place was nice ... Really great for a dinner date. . Would definitely visit this place again. Should add more veg starters. We had mixed sauce pasta and White Italian Chardonnay.. Both were great. Service is very quick. Try it once. Away from hustle bustle of the city
The ambience is good. the service charge is unnecessarily high. But its worth it. The fare is very well prepared. You cannot find fault with the preparation. The choices are myraid. I would recommend 'A la carte' (as in my case) versus buffet here. Buffet spread seemed wanting. Highly recommended. One of the few joints which are trying to tickle your taste buds. I will have to revisit soonest.
I am a huge fan of Italian food and I can't have enough of it. I went to 56 Ristorante Italiano with my girlfriend to celebrate our dating anniversary. The romantic set up was perfect. We ordered for Caprese salad for the starter and in the mains cannelloni con ricotta, spaghetti ala carbonara. Everything tasted authentic and we were very happy with the portions. We were stuffed but we ordered a tiramisu but to our delight the chef gave us a complimentary sorbet as it was our anniversary. Both of us had a memorable day.
