If you despise industrial-grade mass-produced burgers and those pretentious piles of bread, meat and sauce with a knife sticking out, then Aku’s might just be the place for you. This small but cheerful space is bright and purposeful with yellows, greys and clean lines. You place your order at the counter and wait for it to be assembled from scratch. One look and you will know that Aku’s has nailed the basics. Each burger is thoughtfully engineered – just the right size to grab & bite and topped with only as many condiments as needed. The 'Meister' with a lamb patty, bacon, caramelized onions and lettuce was juicy without being a mess. The 'Triton' featured a crisp and succulent prawn patty complemented by celery slaw and lettuce. A plate of hand-cut 'Truffle Fries' was generously topped with Parmesan and truffle oil. The 'Salted Caramel Ice-cream Shake' and 'Honey & Lemon Iced Tea' were both homemade and not too sweet.
