Much comes and goes in Khan Market every year, but to nearly everyone’s relief, Cafe Turtle carries on business as usual. This unfussy cafe atop the Full Circle Bookstore has been a market landmark for nearly two decades now, and its charms extend beyond the shelves of books downstairs. Verdant and sunny with orange and green woodwork, Cafe Turtle fits in everyone - from the afternoon reader to the suited focus groups. Its offerings lean towards the healthy and fresh camp, and best plates seem to come from the bakery. My still-warm 'Whole Wheat Triangles Of Pita' were best relished by themselves rather than dipped in the watery hummus and inconspicuous baba ganoush. The 'Falafels' carried nary a drop of oil, but I had to contend with chickpea balls the texture of Rava Idli. A similar fate overcame the excellent 'Baked Nachos', which were let down by a demure Salsa. Noticing a pattern, I was vindicated by the excellent 'Mushroom & Cheese Quiche', crumbly outside and moist within.
