Why Chutney is not packed at every meal is a mystery: perhaps it is because this Indian restaurant in the hotel that used to be run by Nikko has changed avatars and locations within the hotel a couple of times. But the spartan yet comfortable décor, the food that travels through Lucknow, Kerala, Bengal and Punjab, and the bar with comfortable sofas on the ground floor of the hotel make it an excellent choice for a quiet meal and a great place to bring friends from overseas. In particular, the way the seafood is cooked just right will appeal to guests from Japan. In general, the food here is optimally spiced, without an overdose of oil or chillies, although it is completely authentic Indian food.
