NO ONE gives better value-for-money dim sum than the Dimsum Bros., so it may be a good idea to stay with the dumplings and some of the all-time-hit appetizers, although a third of the restaurant’s menu is dedicated to mains. My favourites are the almond prawns served with wasabi mayo, a dish that launched a thousand copies after Dimsum Bros. introduced it to Delhi-NCR; scallop sui mai with caviar; laksa crab dumplings; BBQ pork puffs; and the radish cakes with tender chicken ham. I have tried hard to order vegetarian dim sum, but I have never experienced an overpowering need to follow through after scanning the options available, though on second thoughts, I’ll recommend the pan-fried chives and water chestnut dumplings and steamed custard buns. This is clearly not a place for vegetarians, but if you love sea creatures, you’ll find the lobster in chilli sauce (the most expensive item on the menu at Rs.1,950++) and steamed fish drizzled gently with the tangy tamarind-based Assam sauce worth drooling over. And don’t leave without digging their red velvet cake — everyone may be having it on the menu, but there’s something special about the one you get at Dimsum Bros.
