The big daddy of them all was the first micro-brewery to open in Millennium City and the first one to combine cricket as a theme with beer. The bar gets packed during important matches, but do book in advance to make sure that you have a table with a good view of the screen. The industrial interiors and the funky cricket-glove shaped sofas make a happy combination. This is a bar that makes its own beer, so that is where the accent is – the mushrooms and chicken pepper tikkas are just accompaniments.
Cricket and beer. That is the whole soul of Howzatt at The Galaxy hotel, Gurgaon. A wonderful sports bar Howzatt is dedicated to its love for cricket and that much is obvious by the interiors. The industrial like design, the flags of various countries hang overhead. The lights are similar to what you see at the stadium. The chairs reminds us of a cricket glove. If you do not have tickets to a stadium for an important match then pop in to Howzatt for a seat gripping, highly energised session. There will be hard-core cricket fans to give you company. The other great thing about Howzatt is the beer. They brew their own delicious beer and serve it under cricket titles. The bar gets jam packed during important matches so call and make bookings beforehand to get premium view of the screen.
House brewed craft beers are fresh and taste fantastic. Dark beer, wheat beer and lager beer is served under the name of googly, doosra and bouncer. The quirky cricket names are fun to read and order. Beer twisters are worth looking into. Try their bowled over drink which is a concoction of house beer, tabasco, lime and seasoning. Classic cocktails namely all-rounder long island iced tea, swinger mojito, sweep mai tai, stumped guadka, knockout martini and short length margarita add amusing element. Straight up vodka, gin, rum, scotch, tequila, champagne, wine, finds a place on the bar menu too. For patrons interested in just the sport minus the booze, go for mocktails or non-alcoholic drinks. Peanuts are a thing of past rather the bar serves cheese & potato tots, cashew nuts with fresh basil, masala peanuts spoons, onion rings salsa, baby popadums with tomato garlic chutney and grissini sticks with cheese chive dip.
For more substantial munchers Howzatt dishes out panko crumb fish finger, jumbo chicken drum, mushroom caps on satay sticks, paneer tangra, thai crispy vegetable, lemon grass chicken tikka, crispy cauliflower in Mexican style, chicken malai kebab and three flavoured paneer tikka. If you don’t want to go somewhere else for dinner then roast chicken wraps, kurkura paneer in roomali, fajita with cornichons & chilli wrap and soft pillowy dumplings are your best bet. Being a sport bar that brews its own beer Howzatt is expensive. But the unique concept of blending cricket and beer is a sure shot success.
