Like its name, it has a closed jail ambience with dim lighting to compliment it. The food is unique and has interesting dishes such as grilled sausage and pepper salad and fish grenobloise, which is grilled fish topped with capers and lemon butter sauce. The dishes are very well presented and the staff is quick.
Circling around the theme of a JAIL, the ambience of the place compliments this theme perfectly - the darkness, the rails, the seating, the chains, the doors, the interiors. Some of the crockery also fits the description, however some of it doesn't (which can be worked upon). Coming to the service, it is a bit slow - considering we were the only ones there at that point. However, the staff is super cordial and the place is hygienic. Coming to the food - nothing exceptional, I expected better as I'd heard a lot about this place. Rating them in this order - Fries, Pasta, Oreo shake, mocktail, crispy corn. At the end of the day, however good the place looks and the service of the staff, if the food isn't good or worth it - I wouldn't be going to the place again. Jail, as the name suggests is a restaurant themed to be situated behind the bars. It employs staff who wear uniforms of prisoners. It has great ambiance & very friendly and fast staff. They play great music and have a projector too. You can enjoy for hours with friends at this place. First coming to the drink, I ordered a Snickers and Peanut Butter Shake as soon as I sat. This was amazing Shake full of Snickers Chocolate and Peanut Butter flavor. LOVED IT A LOT! MUST HAVE!! I also tried Jailccino. This was cold coffee with loads of ice and vanilla essence. It was good and refreshing. Coming to the food, they have a wide variety of dishes and cuisines available. I tried Dahi Ke Kebab which were good. Chilli Paneer was great too (though it could have been bit more crispy on the outside). Spring Rolls were average but felt good with the sauce provided. I loved Chilli Chicken too! Their Spaghetti Pasta was great too. Infact I loved the cheese topped Garlic Bread which they served along with it. However, the star of the day was Char Grilled Soya Tikka. It was completely drenched in flavor and was a delight to my mouth. This is also a must have here. My Main Course consisted of Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani and Tihari Chicken. All three of these were Chef's special recommendation. I liked their Butter Chicken a lot. Dal Makhani could have been more thick but was great in taste. Tihari Chicken contained lots of mixed indian spices. This was VERY DIFFERENT and delicious. The entire main course seemed flawless in taste. For dessert I tried a sizzler brownie and ice cream. This was great and unique concept. Bullet Sundae was great to see and also to taste! Everything was so good in taste that I practically overate my meal. Must visit place for all. Great experience.
A very new and one of a kind concept in India. Always heard or seen on tv. But got to experience for the first time. Location - model town market. 5 min walking distance from model town metro station. While entering you notice staff wearing dress of inmates though its of western jails not those typical filmy stripe dress. Everything is made to look like a jail and give you the experience of one. And the dishes in menu are also named like jail keeping the concept in mind. Drinks - Kitkat shake - good, thick, cold 👍 Oreo shake - good amount of oreo used 👍 Baileys - 👍 Berry blast - mixed berry drink 👍 Starters Chiili chicken 👍👍 Chilli garlic prawns 👍 Veg platter - good enough for veggies Non veg dimsums - soft nd juicy 👍👍 Fish nd chips - nice crispy on outside nd soft nd juicy inside👍👍 Farm house pizza Bar-B-Q chicken pizza 👍 Main course Dal makhni - one of the best i have tasted in model town. 👍👍👍 Kache ghosht ki biryani- best in model town no doubt in that. 👍👍👍👍👍 Mutton roghan josh- good 👍 Desserts Bullet Sunday- ice cream, nuts, wafers nd brownie. So overall good place to experience a new concept nd also good food.
Located in Model Town 2, this place is a perfect delight for all the foodies for you don't have to think twice before ordering something. Wondering if the name JAIL has something to do with the prison cells? Well, that's what I also thought and it seems that this thing could actually be worked upon when we talk about the ambiance. Spread across two floors, this is a perfect fine dine place to have lunch/dinner with your family or your friends. Hungry ? Here goes the list of dishes to you need to check out : 1. Quadi Chicken (Highly Recommended) - Peel off or scrape off that outer layer of dough and unleash the secret that lies within. Some fine pieces of tangy and spicy chicken wait for you to grab them tight, drool over and take a bite. 2. Thai Spring Rolls - A good option to please your taste buds with these succulent rolls served with their special in house sauce. 3. Chicken Dimsums - Perfectly steamed but had that juicy and ripe flavor of chicken missing somewhere. 4. Achari Paneer Tikka - Paneer doesn't let that smile fade away from your face with its crispy and lush taste, taste which keeps you always bound to it. What JAIL has to offer is simply remarkable for it has been cooked to perfection and has that Achari flavor what the name speaks about. Shall we talk about the main course? Nah! Cause that would mean an insult to all the efforts that went into the making of those dishes. Be it the Jail Special Dal Makhani or Jail Butter Chicken or Tihari Chicken, everything seemed so perfect on the plate that we couldn't stop praising about it. Kudos to the culinary team of JAIL!! Talking about the shakes served here, you might get a bit disappointed for what the menu reads, "THICK SHAKES" wouldn't be what you'll be served. We tried the Kitkat Shake and the Snicker & Peanut Butter Shake. Though the taste is totally upto the mark but that particular taste seems to diminish with the texture of the shake which really needs to be worked upon. You could instead go for a sweet refreshing drink served here, the Berry Blast which topped our list and made our meal look complete. Finally, to suffice the meal and fulfill the requirements of our sweet tooth, we got served with the Tempting Chocolate Brownie with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. The brownie was a bit hard and that might have been due to over heating of brownie. But that did not deter the efforts of the culinary team and they served us with some utterly delicious Brownie Sizzlers.
Finally a saviour for me near my place, where I can sit for hours and enjoy everything under one roof, be it shakes or the food!! Yes, Model town finally has got that place to sit back and relax yourself at a place where the name might not sound that good but the place offers something different. Jail, located in Model town-2 main market just next to Sargam Electronics and at walking distance from Model town metro station is spread over two floors!! We decided to sit on the 1st floor where we decided to order: 1. Oreo shake: Definitely the best Oreo shake for me in North Delhi, I have always loved the one served at Billu’s hut, NSP, this one was equally good, highly recommended. 2. Peanut Butter shake: As suggested by my friends, they loved this shake. Frankly , I didn’t have this because once I find the oreo shake to be good, I don’t prefer trying other options!! Do try and let me know. 3. Veg platter: It had paneer tikka, chilly potato, soya chaap, spring rolls and dahi ke kebab. The best veg starter for me was soya chaap, soft and melted in mouth. 4. Non-veg platter: It had chilly chicken, chicken tikka, fish and chips and a variety of prawns(not able to recall). The best for me was chilly chicken and then fish and chips. 5. Tihari chicken, Jail butter chicken and Dal makhani with breads: The main course was a delight to have! Tihari chicken had the perfect Indian taste, Jail butter chicken had a perfect red gravy and Dal makhani was creamy. Food and shake lovers anywhere around North delhi shouldn’t miss this place, for there are only some places serving amazing food and shakes!!
Eccentric out-of-the-box themes seems to have become a trend with these new bars. Restauranteurs try to choose a theme which is interesting enough to lure in punters, the more fascinating the better. Anything from divine to western works as long as it catches the eye of the punters, hence the quirky concepts. Delhi is a city that never fails to experiment and is not scared of unique crazy ideas, which makes this city so awesome when it comes to its nightlife. One such out of the box bar is based after a prison and is named ‘JAIL – Behind The Bar’. The name more than hints after the theme which attracts the attention of the bar-hoppers immediately. It’s located in Model Town 2, a vicinity dominated by the presence of popular colleges so the crowd that pulls into JAIL is youthful and fun-loving.
The food is comforting as well as unique with some really great dishes being featured on the menu. JAIL covers everything from North Indian to Chinese to Continental to Italian, a pretty extensive variety of cuisines from all around the world. A full-fledged bar menu is their forte including thick shakes, mocktails and soft drinks for those who don’t drink. Signature cocktails make for a fun read with names like jail break, detention cell, barracks, handcuffs and anticipatory bail. Meanwhile nibble alongside on, Punjabi chicken tikka, paneer tikka achari, chicken pita pockets, honey chilly potato, masaledar tandoori jhinga and shish touk. JAIL fills you up on, spaghetti carbonara, pepperoni pizza, Jail butter chicken, falafel burger, stir fried prawns in hoisin sauce, fish grenobloise, burrito in a bowl, malai kofta and char-grilled chicken sizzler.
Tempt your sweet tooth by digging into JAIL’s assorted desserts. Have you pick of, bullet sundae, tempting chocolate brownie top up with scoop of vanilla, an array of ice creams or, if you want something off the menu, ask your server for the dessert of the day. Ambience is JAIL’s strongest point. The bar is designed like a closed prison with coarse grey walls and dim lighting. Simple rustic iron rod furniture divides the room which spans across two levels. Comfy long sofas are added to make the seating cosy. JAIL has a casual dark vibe which goes with its theme perfectly. A good place to take your friends to for a medium pricey boozy evening.
