Kwality restaurant is possibly the forerunner in establishing a dining culture in India. Opened in 1940, this iconic restaurant still occupies its original spot in Connaught Place. While there have been changes in the decor, the DNA, i.e. the menu and the food, has not changed all that much. Favourites like the chana bhature, murgh makhani (butter chicken), Murgh Kwality (in a cashewnut-based gravy) remain. There is also a Continental food section, which includes vegetable au gratin and coq au vin. It is decidedly old-fashioned and the food and the ambience provide a trip down memory lane.
