One can never go wrong with Indian cuisine. This is one cuisine that never fails you no matter what and comforts you when you need it the most. When in doubt, always go for Indian food. But if you are on lookout for a traditional dining space with authentic Indian food then definitely go for ‘Mother India’. This lovely fine dining space is newly opened in glittery Connaught Place, on the ground level of Outer Circle and has become quite popular with Indian loving gourmets. Families and curry-seeking foodies often flock to Mother India in hopes for great food, which they get ‘every’ time. They always have something going on so keep your eye out for live entertainments.
Menu at Mother India is thoroughly Indian, encompassing not only North Indian but South Indian, Mughlai and Bengali cuisines as well. There is enough variety to blow your mind. Opt for a thali, if possible, it’s much more pocket-friendly and varied. If you are popping by during lunch hour then pick a combo meal. It allows you a fulfilling delicious meal without wasting too much of your time. Sip on a glass of kachi kairi cha panna to wake up your appetite. Complement that with a series of appetizers like, Madurai dahi vadai, meen varuval, sitaram bazaar malai paneer, chicken ghee roast, begum bazaar ki sikhampuri and kumbh ganderi kebab. Make the main course out of, rara gosht, amritsari choley, malai kofta awadh-e-hind, murgh korma motia mahal, Bhatinda special paneer lababdar, dum aloo banarasi, chicken chettinad and jaipuri gatta curry.
Definitely try their rice section, it’s surprisingly varied. There is ghee Pongal, tomato rice, bajre ki khichdi, hyderabadi gosht biryani and kokum rice to choose from. If you do have some appetite left, pacify it with a selection of desserts. Enjoy a lip-smacking serving of, jalebi with rabdi, kulfi, pineapple kesari bhat, rasmalai, badshahi faluda, lychee ki tehri and gulab jamun. Paan lovers can rejoice in Mother India’s paan range too. Mother India spans across two levels and projects an artistic-maternal theme. Pictures on the walls of famous Bollywood mother characters to a mural of Mother India movie, everything reemphasizes the theme. Look is quite homely, almost as if you are dining in middle of a residential street. Bill won’t be excessive, worry not.
