Mother India greets diners with a vision of India, including a poster of the film and many artefacts in vivid technicolour all over the restaurant. If that is not enough, the dining chairs are upholstered in paisley prints, while a gramophone steals the show. Taking its inspiration from popular food across India, the menu runs the gamut from dishes like 'Naga Raja Machhi', 'Chicken Chettinad' to 'Rajasthani Dal Baati Churma'. At lunch time, the best bet is to order the combo meals featuring classic favourites like 'Cholar Daal with Luchi', 'Punjabi Rajma Rice', and 'Guntur Idli Sambar' to name a few. Not every dish I tried was a knockout; 'Malabari Mushroom Pepper Fry' slightly overpowered by pepper, say. But most of the menu offers satisfying dishes, the kind you always want from an Indian restaurant.
