  • One standout vegetarian dish is the Gucchi Pulao that beats the meaty ones in delicacy
  • The food comes under the category of ‘grand’. The interiors are more modest as are the prices
  • Do try the signature dishes on the menu, they are rightfully recommended

Phantom Speaks

On a good day, it can be very good, celebrating as it does the food of Punjab: rustic, hearty and appealing. The standouts on the menu include the Beetroot Kanji (which has a longer season than black carrots), Salmon Tikka and Rahra Meat. Vegetarians are looked after too, albeit not with the same enthusiasm as their meat-eating counterparts: Rawalpindi Chana is standard issue chana without the bells and whistles of, say, kadhai murgh.

The ambience was good but the day being sunday, the restaurant was over crowded. Hence, the staff was unable to serve properly. We took their buffet. The food was tasty but it took lot of time for them to get fresh food as the food in vessles had become dry due to continuous heating. The service was very slow... They were out of stock for golgappas.. Overall not a great experience

As this is a specialty restaurant, the rating cant go any lower. This was our second visit to this place. However I can vouch that the first one was much better. Located on the 3rd floor of the Select Citywalk Mall, the ambiance of the place steals the show. Its kind of a tent house with a grand decor. The staff is well behaved and courteous. Coming to the food, we ordered their special dal makhni and meat along with khasta roti and missi roti. The khasta roti turned out to be a dampener. The missi roti portion was big enough. Though I would say that the roti's could have been better. The dal and meat were good though. With very little oil floating, it is never heavy on the stomach. Just to make matters a little more foody, we decided to try the jeera rice as well. It was the best one as it was freshly prepared and steamy. The quantity is more than sufficient for 2 people to eat and not hog!! The overall show-stealer was the pan shots which they serve at the end of the meal. Its a great concept!! However as this eatery is associated with the name of a famous restaurateur, I would have expected a bit more fantasy with the food as the prices are high. Overall a good visit for North Indian food if you happen to be in this mall.

We visited this restaurant for lunch on Sunday; teeming with diners. There was a choice of buffet as well as ala carte on Sundays. We decided to order the ala carte. The dal makhani and biryani were amazing! The food is also good, along with a nice environment. They also have excellent kababs and drinks. Pleasant experience!

Good food, with good variety
We visited this restaurant for lunch on a weekend, and found it surprisingly not so crowded. There is a choice of buffet as well as ala carte on Sundays. However, the buffet area is not very well air conditioned. We decided to order the ala carte. The amount of variety for Vegetarian and non-vegetarians is one of the best parts. The food is also good, along with a nice environment. They also have excellent kababs and drinks. Would recommend to any one wanting to have North Indian food in general.

About Punjab Grill

The beauty of Punjabi food lies in its down-to-earth wholesome curries and the creamy nuance of the flavours. It is one of the most popular cuisines in India and can be relished throughout the country, be at humble dhabas or the snazzy five star restaurants. Punjabi food is always a good idea and if you are looking for some rich thick curries then there is nothing better. It may sound like a pretty unpretentious kind of cuisine but it is not easy to master. It takes a very refined palate with a sharp sense of balance to get the flavours right. When talking about masters of Punjabi cuisine, one can’t help but mention the very popular ‘Punjab Grill’, a trendy and posh version of this humble gastronomy. The restaurant has quickly climbed the success charts after its arrival not so long ago.

Being a swanky popular place, Punjab Grill can be found at all the top locations including, Select Citywalk Mall in Saket, South Delhi. The restaurant enjoys an elegant and classy façade of off white colour, carrying a distinct logo of a lion. The entire room is done in pale soft tone of white, with dark wooden chairs lending the much needed contrast. Dining room is given a formal look, each table laden with attractive crystal ware. Furnishings are subtle, posh, eye-catching and classy in every way. Spacious interiors look all the more airy due to large picture windows on one side of the restaurant. Everything is done in a delicate and tasteful way. Punjab Grill is a hub of foodies who often drop by for a hearty Punjabi fare no matter the pricey bill.

As Punjab Grill is a little expensive place, it’s wise to opt for their buffet spread, which showcases a wonderful variety of dishes for an economical price. But if you like to control your menu then browse through the a la carte. Accompanied by the infamous Patiala peg tuck into the delicious appetizers such as, raan-e-sikandari, paneer tikka multani, murgh malai tikka, bharwan khumb peshawari, chaamp tajdar, dahi ke kebab, raunaqeen seekhan and tandoori pomfret. Their starters section is impressive but save some appetite for the main course which entails, Patiala shahi kadhai paneer, meat Punjab grill, martaban de charba aloo, dhaniya mirchi da kukkad, amritsari malai kofta and kadhai jheenga. Definitely indulge in their sweet course. It’s divine.
