Located at the back of the Ambience mall, Zambar is not precisely central, but when I walk in and get stuck in the face with the aromas of South Indian cooking I instantly suspect it is going be worth the trek. The swanky new Zambar is sleek and comfortable. The sizeable selection on offer can be overwhelming but it’s hard to wrong when ordering the dozen of 'Mini Idlis', 'Net Dosai', 'Vetri Murugan’s Mutton Sukka', or hearty favourites like the 'Chettinad Biryani' which is a true collision of flavours. The 'Appams' aka bowl-shaped pancakes made with rice flour and coconut milk go best with the 'Kerela Chicken Stew'. However the selection from the Appam Bar is superlative, an interesting concept of choosing your own Appam ranging the gamut from pink pepper to Ragi and toppings from Asparagus and water chestnut kurma to Bacon and egg curry leaf, Zambar takes the Appam experience to another level. The restaurant at the back of the mall exceeds my expectations, and on the trip home I dream of what I could order the next time I am here.
