Chawla's 2 Since 1960

Chawla's 2 Since 1960 is a restaurant in sheela chowk, dharamshala serving biryani and North Indian. Known for biryani and Indian mains; ideal for family meals and group outings.

Had scrumptious lunch here today & what stood out was the warm welcome by the owners as soon as I walked in. Attentive service just added to wonderful flavors of the food. We had pindi chole, kadhai chicken, missi roti, plain roti and masala nimbu soda! Bang on flavors, good portion size, served piping hot with green chutney & sirke waali pyaaz. This is a meal that feels heavenly with a great view of the mighty Dhauladar Range.

Do walk in for a warm family feeling, chit chat with the owners, clean hygienic food and a local relaxing vibe.

After a long day of exploring Dharamshala, I landed here around 9:30 pm when most other eateries had already closed — and I’m so glad I did!
I was genuinely taken aback by the warmth of both the hospitality and the room itself, especially in the chilly November night of Dharamshala.

I had the Non-Veg Executive Thali, which came with a good variety of dishes and was more than sufficient for one person. The hot Gulab Jamun at the end which was given as complimentary was the perfect sweet finish!

A special mention to the owner at the reception — very cordial, attentive, and kind enough to check on my experience and even suggest places to visit in Dharamshala and on my route back to Shimla. Small gestures like these make a huge difference.

Highly recommended for comfort, warmth, and great service when in Dharamshala.!!!

This restaurant isn’t just about food – it’s about passion, hospitality, and heart. Owned and run by the sweetest husband-and-wife team, you can truly feel the love and dedication in every detail.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service was exceptional – attentive without being intrusive. The owners went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome, sharing stories behind their dishes and making us feel right at home.
Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. You can tell it’s made from scratch with fresh ingredients and a whole lot of love.
It’s rare to find a place that combines incredible food and heartfelt service.
Thank you so much for this amazing experience ??

I visited at Chawla 2 since 1960 on 27th December and tried Adrak & Masala chai and both flavours were simply awesome. I then ordered Peri-Peri fries, spring roll and cold coffee. I must say that everything was top notch and I really liked both the quality and quantity of food that they served me. Highly recommend visiting this store.

Being a vegetarian did not tried their signature dishes. However had egg burji, lachcha parota, and garlic naan they were well cooked.

Very kind owner and staff. Food was amazing. We had manchow soup and malai kofta. Delicious! Very calm vibes. And what great taste of music they had ❤️ Would surely recommend ?

I had a really good experience here. The place is very clean and well-maintained, with a pleasant ambiance that makes you feel comfortable as soon as you enter. The food was absolutely delicious and worth the little wait – you can really taste the effort and quality in every dish. The staff was polite, attentive, and cooperative, which added to the overall experience.
One thing I personally appreciated a lot was the cleanliness of the female washrooms. For me, using public restrooms is usually challenging, but here they were spotless and hygienic, which made a big difference. It shows that the management pays attention not only to food and service but also to customer comfort. Overall, a great place to visit – good food, good service, and a welcoming environment. Definitely recommend it!

Just had an incredible dining experience at Chawalas 2 with Dauladhar Range view ! The food was absolutely amazing every dish was bursting with flavor. But the real highlight was the tandoori chicken; it's a must-try! Beyond the food, the staff's hospitality was top-notch, making the whole visit unforgettable. I highly recommend Chawalas to everyone looking for great food.
