Food

Shanghai Chic

This restaurant has an a la carte menu plus an unlimited tasting menu option where you can order as much as you like from the same menu for a fixed price (and get portions to match your group size). If you choose the all you can eat option, there is a separate soft beverages price vs alcoholic beverages price.

The dishes on offer are mainly from far east Asia. The quality of the food is OK and the taste quite generic, with no dishes really standing out. Although the dishes came from different places in Asia, nothing seemed to be authentic (some dishes were really different in a bad way such as being the wrong taste, dry or just weird) or live up to restaurants that would specialise in the respective cuisines. However, what this place does have is variety if you want a big feed and some of the desserts like the ice cream mochi were nice to finish off with.

I had lunch with some of my colleagues . I had the grill chicken and sheesha , it was delicious. We enjoyed . The service was excellent.

High prices, average price. This restaurant is inside movenpick ibn battuta gate. They push for the formula, which is quite pricey. I will not go here again, and won't recommend.

We had taste of Asia tasting menu. Food was good staff Kevin was quite friendly. Will visit again next month for the new menu.

Service is good but the food is just average. The CNY menu is disappointing. Like the roasted duck meal. The prawn and fried fish dishes are below par.

Had a really lovely time here with my husband. It was our first date together on our honeymoon and the staff truly made it special. We got some cake on the house and a special card with a picture of us on it with congratulations from the staff at the restaurant. Food was delicious and ambience was just right. Would definitely recommend!

We came back to Shanghai Chic for a birthday celebration with the kids and grandparents, 5 YEARS after we first visited! How I regret not having come back much sooner..

We all selected the tasting menu, where you basically can order anything off the menu as many times as you want, and they will be freshly cooked and served to you in tasting portions! Much better than a buffet.. and this also includes unlimited starters, soft drinks, and desserts of your choosing.

While the food was mostly very good, The pepper beef was outstanding (just as I remembered from so long ago), as well as the wasabi prawns.. we just couldn’t get enough of them. The desserts were also very good.

Service was above par, Gyanu was very friendly and took the time to explain and recommend dishes to us throughout the evening, and made it a very pleasant experience.

The restaurant is quite large but fills up quickly, reservations are a must at the weekend. The decor is ok for a 5* venue but could do with a few updates and interior design. Location is pretty convenient at the Movenpick Ibn Battuta Hotel, with free valet parking, and a very picturesque hotel interior.

We look forward to visiting again, will definitely aim to make it within 5 months, not years!

I was honestly extremely disappointed. Most of the food was below average and it definitely doesn't deserve to be #9 on trip advisors list of all the restaurants in Dubai. The Dim Sum was very good but the rest of the food was mostly average. The fish main course was dreadful, don't order it!
