5 Pet-Friendly Cafes in Mumbai

It is not easy taking care of a pet. They are just like human beings that need constant care and attention. They need to be taken out to socialise and need to be constantly fed. Animals are not much different from us, but sadly, not everyone looks at it that way. So when you have the opportunity to go out with your pet, it really is a gift. In a bid to make the city more pet-friendly, some animal lovers have generously opened their café and restaurant doors and allowed you to dine with your mutts, cats or even birds if you have any! Here are our favourite pet-friendly cafés in the city.

Gostana – This Bandra café is a popular spot for folks that want to eat healthy, enjoy good music and are dog lovers. There is often a beautiful Labrador named Apple (who belongs to the café owners), who welcomes you with a friendly wag and is always happy to play, which is the biggest advertisement to bring your pets with you when you visit.

Leaping Windows – If you are a comic book fan, you will love this space. The entire theme is all about action heroes and comic stars, not to mention a lovely library that they have in their basement. The food is fun and it is a great quiet spot to hang out. The biggest plus is that they are pet-friendly and allow you to bring your dogs, cats or any other pet in their outdoor section. It is not every day you get to dine with your pet!

The Bagel Shop – Out of all the pet-friendly places I have come across, The Bagel Shop is my absolute favourite. Not only is it a relaxed environment and they serve lovely bagels, but it is the only place that really does not discriminate between animals. A lot of places think pets only mean dogs or cats, but I specifically asked if I can bring my birds or pig and they seemed startled at first, but happily extended the invitation to my imaginary pet pig. The animals are allowed only in their outdoor or non air-conditioned area, but the fact that they are allowed is amazing! If, by any chance, you do have a pet pig, you know where to bring him!

Suzette Creperie and Café, Bandra – If you are obsessed with crêpes, beautiful salads and fresh juices, then Suzette is the place for you. They have three outlets across the city, but our favourite is their Bandra one only because they encourage you to bring your pets to dine. The space for your dog or cats is allocated by the last two tables in their outdoor section, as it is a small area and tends to get crowded quickly. Nevertheless, the attitude is encouraging and, often enough, you will find people grabbing a bite along with their pooch.

Moshe’s, Cuff Parade – Moshe’s is a great spot for Mediterranean and European food and they have a wonderful décor to match. It tends to get crowded, especially for dinner as their air-conditioned section only has a handful of seating. The courtyard outside is pretty and encourages you to bring your pets while you dine. There is actually enough space for them to wander a bit without disturbing other diners and it is convenient, as it is possibly the only restaurant in the area that encourages dining with your pet.
