The joys of parenthood don't extend to when your child decides to scream his head off and throw a tantrum in a public space. It can get hard to pacify them and not to mention incredibly embarrassing when other people glare at you. Eating out with a child especially toddlers can be an exhausting affair. It gets hard to control a child from clanging his cutlery or from running around a restaurant disturbing other diners. This is why it is best to frequent more child friendly restaurants where your children can just be children without you feeling tired or awkward about disturbing anyone. Sadly these restaurants are few and far between in the city. We took some time to dig up places where they don't raise their eye brows at children and you and your kids can enjoy a meal out.

New Yorker – This is the perfect example of old is gold. This pure vegetarian family restaurant has been around for almost 2 decades and still attracts hordes of folks. Mostly because they love the food but a lot of young parents like to bring their children here because they can be themselves. The restaurant also gives each diner a fun paper table mat with puzzles and games on it along with a pencil so that the children are occupied and enjoy their time at the restaurant.

Le Pain Quotidien – While one would imagine this to be a snooty uppity café it is nothing of that sort. While the café is wooden and beautifully decorated and isn't exactly built with children in mind it is one of the few places that is wonderfully tolerant towards children.

Hard Rock Café – This doesn't seem like the place any child should visit but you will be surprised to find toddlers and little children running about the place even at night. While it is known for its live gigs and performances, the brand insists that they are a family restaurant and welcomes children with open arms. In fact they also encourage you to bring your children on Sunday afternoons to celebrate their birthday parties as they plan special activities and games to keep the children occupied and ensure that they have a good time and wonderful birthday.

Smoke House Deli – This trendy café has recently taken a wonderful initiative to invite and attract more children to their restaurant. They have launched a very successful special children's menu which includes things like milkshakes, juices, pasta, French fries and other things children typically enjoy. The menu is adorable and comes with crayons and stickers and is entertaining for children as they can play with it throughout their meal.

Millk – This new establishment is split up into a restaurant, a play area for children and even a relaxing spa. The idea is to have an entertainment space for children, so while parents enjoy a leisurely meal or even indulge at their spa and salon, the children have a great time playing. They are of course also whole heartedly welcome in the restaurant and more than a meal out, it works as a great space for children to enjoy themselves.
