Delhi NCR’s Matcha Dessert And Beverage Trail
So ‘matcha’ to celebrate with this east Asian ingredient!
10 Jan, 2022 by Reeth Naomi PuriFor those of us just getting acquainted with this ingredient ‘Matcha’ is a finely ground powder of specially grown green tea leaves, mostly processed and consumed in East Asia. The tea plants are grown in the shade for three to four weeks and then harvested. The shaded growth is what helps the tea pack a mean punch of theanine and caffeine. Currently a trending favourite with chefs and culinary experts, not only as a beverage but as a cooking ingredient as well. So, let's take a look at the best places in Delhi NCR to find these Matcha delights.
The For’est, Vasant Vihar
This rustic Korean bakery/eatery, with the aroma of buttery French toasts and freshly roasted coffee beans wafting through the café, has possibly the cities best Matcha Lattes (Iced or hot) to offer. I would personally recommend a hot latte and the Matcha aromatics are much more prominent at a warm temperature.

Kampai boasts an extensive Japanese (Japan through the seasons) themed ambiance and menu, winning our hearts over one cherry blossom at a time. With plenty of ramen, sushi and teppan to choose from on their menu, your dining experience would be incomplete without trying their Matcha Tiramisu Cake, the green god of desserts!
Other must-haves: Yuzu Cheesecake, Tori Katsu Curry (fried chicken with curry), Ebi Tempura and Pork belly.

My Tea Chapel-Pinsa Pizza and Waffles, Galleria
A charming little café serving a fine gastronomic curation of luxury teas, airy yet crunchy Pinsas and Wonut Waffles. The Matcha Bubble Tea / Boba tea made with authentic imported premium Japanese Matcha Green tea with a smooth texture and earthy grassy flavour along with Chewy Tapioca Boba is a playful yet flavoursome beverage that is not to be missed.
