Eat Clean: Places For Street Foods In Delhi NCR

Love those golgappas but always afraid to eat them off the streets? If the food off the streets of Chandni Chowk is not your cup of tea (only because you think it is not clean enough), then there is still good news for you street food lovers. Delhi has got some places that not only offer you the ambience of an upmarket restaurant but also allows you to sample a variety of clean and hygienic street food.

Veg vs Non-Veg

Whether it is Keema Pav or Pav Bhaaji the choice is almost too hard for some of us. The flavours of the masala and all that butter makes it quite a decadent treat and that it’s available on the streets just makes it such a delicious thought, at least for some of us. Kalmi Kebabs vs the Aloo Tikki, Aloo Parantha vs Chicken Momos, Rajma Chawal vs Meat Curry Chawal, the list is endless for street food lovers, all you need to know what you feel like eating.

Best Street Food

What is the best street food that Delhi has to offer – is it the rotisserie kebabs or roadside chole kulche or it is the chaat dishes that nearly everyone has wanting some more. (This debate is never-ending, would you eat the tikki at Bittoo Tikki Wala or the Bhalla Papdi at Natraj Dahi Bhalle Wala, my pick, however, will be Ashok Chaat Bhandar at Chawri Bazaar). No matter what you are looking for there is someplace for everyone. With over a decade in the market, Haldiram and Bikanerwala have made a dent in this space, it is only now that you can actually find a place that serves you everything you are looking for from across India. But sometimes you’re also looking for the best possible ambience and that’s where we step in.

Delhi’s Top 5 Favourite Hygienic Street Food Restaurants

We pick out some of our favourite restaurants that serve up scrumptious street food:

Imly - Their Dabeli is something quite extraordinary, but Imly has gotten their model down pat. They serve Pan-Indian food that includes Moong Daal Chilla, Mysore Dosa and even Soya Chaap. With quirky serving platters, this is really one of the best places to go

Price for two - Rs. 700

Nukkadwala - From their Vada Pavs to Kolkata Veg Cutlet to their Keema Kulcha, almost everything is very affordable in this casual dining set up. Honest to their recipes, this is a place that is slowly gaining popularity with the young and old

Price for two - Rs. 400

Too Indian - This place has just upped the ante when it comes to street food. Try their version of the Dahi Bhalla to be a convert forever or their Chur Chur Naan, either way, you are going to like this.

Price for two - Rs. 900

Street Foods by Punjab Grill - Started by Jiggs Kalra and now with Lite Bite foods, this is the place where you actually eat food that has been cooked off the carts and the streets. This Quick Service Restaurant churns out some of the best Papdi Chaat that the city has to offer.

Price for two - Rs. 400

Thali Wala -  This new kid on the block is offering you all that you want in the offering in the vegetarian world, but their Rawa Idli is just amazing. You also get to choose from a range of thalis too.

Price for two - Rs. 400
