Vegetarian restaurants in Bengaluru that will keep you coming back for more

From Italian, Chinese and home-style to health food, these restaurants of Bengaluru offer a variety of vegetarian cuisines to those looking for a green meal.

Little Italy - This chain of restaurants, which is now present in 17 major cities of India, serves classic Italian vegetarian food. In fact, their food is so good that dedicated non-vegetarian food lovers have been known to give their meat a pass, and head here to dig into some finger-licking antipasti, pizzas, pastas, fondue, risottos and more.

Cuisine: Italian

Richie Rich - A place that is known to be open till most others in Bengaluru have shut shop, Richie Rich offers Mumbai-style street food that includes pav bhajis, a variety of chaats, tawa pulao, grilled and Bombay sandwiches, and a dessert list that will leave you so flummoxed, it will test your decision-making skills.

Cuisine: Fast food, Bombay street food

Imli - If there is a place in town that serves home-style tea and pakoras, then this is it. With open seating and nested under a huge tree, Imli’s aim is to put on your plate comfort food that you crave. A place that calls itself a home away from home, it offers mom-made favourites like besan ka cheela, aate ka halwa, gatte aur matar ka pulao, jhaal moori, sabudana khichdi and the likes.

Cuisine: North Indian, home-style food

Carrots - For those vegetarians who are on a diet, Carrots is what will keep your calories in check when you are dining out. The menu lists detox juice, soy milkshakes with seasonal fruits, carrots oats smoothie, and sprouts pulao, among others. For those who are not on a diet, there is plenty to choose from as well, we promise.

1947 - A fine-dining restaurant, this chain aims to keep the patriotism within you going by capturing the essence of India’s freedom struggle through portraits of freedom fighters on its walls. Although it is not clear how this instils love for the country, the food options may just tempt you to keep coming back for more.

Cuisine: North Indian, Chinese and sizzlers

SouthIndies - Get a taste from all the four Southern states of India in this upscale vegetarian South Indian restaurant chain. The restaurant has an elite but comfortable feel to it. Besides their À la carte menu, which has enough from everywhere, their breakfast and lunch buffets are also very popular.

Cuisine: South Indian, featuring food from all four sister states of the region.

Yogisthaan Café - If Yoga and healthy living is what you live for, then head to this café that serves macrobiotic vegan-friendly food, where each dish is cooked and served according to Ayurvedic principles. From Banana smoothies, quinoa burgers and home-made muesli, there is everything that a health-conscious diner could dream of. In addition, their salads and sandwich segments are interestingly named after whatever state of mind you may be in. So you could pick from ‘I am toning’, to ‘I am alkalising’, to ‘fighting’, ‘sliming’ or ‘indulging’, depending on what suits your mood then.
