A Cookie Café

A Cookie Café

While the city is full of pâtisseries and dessert shops, all one fancier than the other, very few folks are sticking to what they love the most. This need to have anything and everything on a menu is in my opinion, the city's greatest culinary downfall. So, imagine my delight when I stumble across an adorable bright little café in the by lanes of Kala Ghoda, only to learn that they retail cookies and ice creams. No cakes, none of those macaroons that pop up on every menu, no cheesecake or red velvet cupcake, but just a counter laden with big colourful cookies and a paper menu on the wall with a bunch of interesting artisanal ice creams.

Oh Dough is run by a cookie loving brother sister duo who are happy to spread the cookie love. Pawan Chawla is busy making sure his customers are comfortable and is happy to assist and explain their menu, while his sister Ritika Chawla is busy bustling about in the kitchen. A self confessed cookie addict and Le Cordon Bleu alumni, Ritika is bursting with new flavour combinations and experiments, she is all set to showcase at the store in the coming months. For now, she has got some incredible cookies which quite frankly are big enough to fill you up. Some of the more common flavour combinations on their menu include delicious oatmeal and raisin cookies, triple chocolate and chocolate chip which are both eggless, and the red velvet cookie. As tasty as these real gems are the pistachio cookies which look like big crumbly green balls, but again are delectable despite being eggless with a hint of white chocolate inside.

The s’mores cookie is one of their popular creations but the real king of the pack is their signature Chipzel Cookie which is an unusual combination of chocolate, potato chips, pretzels and butterscotch and is a crumbly delight with almost a different flavour in each bite. Sadly, the cookies filled me up and there was no space left to sample any of their ice creams, however, the pistachio and black truffle sounds interesting. If the cookies and ice creams are too sweet for you, indulge in a strong cup of coffee or any of their other beverages. If you are interested in gifting any of these treats, they have the cutest tin boxes which once filled with different cookies make for the perfect present.

Oh Dough is open every day from 11 am – 11 pm and sometimes even later on popular demand. If you want to indulge your sweet tooth with something not too sweet and drastically different from all the other dessert options available pop by and thank me later.
