Restaurant Spotlight: Pa Pa Ya, A Modern Bistro Revolutionizing Pan-Asian Dining Experiences In Mumbai
Enjoy modern Asian gastronomy at this fabulous restaurant in BKC
22 Sep, 2021 by Gargi BishtPa Pa Ya is a modern Asian bistro & tapas bar that can be best described as a chic, modern, and radical reinterpretation of Asian cuisine. Revolutionizing the Pan-Asian dining experience, Pa Pa Ya is an assimilation of various cooking techniques and cultures found across the Asian continent. It is as much about culinary art as it is about offering an exceptional gastronomic experience to the guests.
From a design point of view, Pa Pa Ya boasts unique interiors. Contemporary yet chic, their decor transports you to the retro 80s with their wooden flooring and round sofa seating. Besides delicious food and inviting aura, another standout feature that Pa Pa ya BKC is known for is the undulating wood-paneled kinetic ceiling over the bar, which in itself is a remarkable feat of smart technology and engineering.
Pa Pa Ya's stellar menu represents influences from Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore, amongst others. In line with their reputation in the gastronomic landscape of Mumbai, the food at Pa Pa Ya is nothing short of a revelation.
With an expansive menu featuring a plethora of non-vegetarian as well as vegetarian preparations, this modern pan Asian bistro is more than equipped to satiate a gourmand’s every gastronomic whim.
Now coming to our food recommendations from their sizeable curation, we absolutely love their ‘Shitake and Burrata Croquetas’ from the Tapas section featuring shallow fried Shitake mushrooms stuffed with a delicious blend of green peas & chili mash.
Another great option from their Tapas section is the oh-so-delicious ‘Crispy Fried Lotus Stem’ tossed in smoked honey chili and Sichuan pepper dust, accompanied by a creamy avocado dip to temper the spice.
With over 68 vegetarian and non-vegetarian options on the menu, there is no denying the fact that Pa Pa Ya is a literal heaven for dim sum lovers. Our favorite from their plump selection is their ‘Sauteed Leeks with Water Chestnuts’ dim sums.
Their sushi is on point, and their sashimi is even better. They source sushi-grade fish straight from Japan which is stored in a special freezer maintaining a temperature of -40⁰C to ensure maximum freshness. Their sushi matrix is a work of art and honestly the most fun to dig into.
Their ‘Xinjiang Lamb’ is a delicious rendition of braised lamb chops featuring a medley of sticky, succulent, melt-in-your-mouth textures & flavors.
End your meal on a sweet note with their very dramatic 'Chocolate Ball on Fire', which is an experience in itself or you can also go for the toothsome ‘Hazelnut Fondant Cake’ featuring the richness of decadent hazelnut chocolate inside, and a powdery Matcha coating on the outside.
