In a city like Kolkata, where the weather is mostly hot and humid, dining out means going to a restaurant with proper air conditioning. But, who does not like a bit of fresh air and enjoying a meal in open air. Kolkata cannot afford to have open air restaurants unlike a Pune or a Bangalore and can never match up to the numbers. However, open air on the rooftop is certainly achievable and a few restaurants in the city are lucky enough to provide that kind of rooftop ambience which is sought after. So, here are a few rooftop lounges and restaurant in the city which is definitely worth checking out simply for the pleasure of good food and drinks under the open sky.

Capella, the rooftop lounge and casual dining space at Alt Air - the boutique hotel, welcomes you with a classic retro look and transcends into a contemporary styling. The rooftop is sprawling and is set on the 10th floor, overlooking the Salt Lake area. The bar menu comprises of the classic cocktails and modern concoctions to spoil the guests. The food menu has some truly thrilling contemporary global choices like Pan Tossed Dirty Mushrooms, Naga Chilli Babycorn, Baileys Murg Malai Tikka and more.

Blue & Beyond, The Lindsay, Kolkata is a restaurant on the 10th floor/ rooftop of Hotel Lindsay in the very busy and overcrowded New Market area. The restaurant provides a very romantic ambience along with excellent food in Indian, European as well as Chinese delicacies. The bar is well stocked with the choicest of spirits and the cocktails are noteworthy too. Having a pleasant dining experience under the sky in this busy area is something worthwhile.

Wykiki at the rooftop of Swissotel is quite a spectacular Asian street bar with a brilliant view of the city. There are plenty of covered and uncovered spaces with glass, woodwork and a garden setting, which gives it a rich look. With a menu comprising on interesting fingers food like Fire Prawn Cracker, Rendang Pav and Thai Curry Chicken Tikka and the likes, it is an attractive place for the young and happening to flock here.

Ozora is a splendid lounging area for people with moolah. Set on the 20th floor of Acropolis Mall, it gives rooftop views another meaning altogether for Kolkata. The ambience is rich and luxurious with a beautiful sun deck. Come with your friends or spend time with your Valentine on this sun deck, while sipping on to your favourite drink. The food menu is eclectic with a plethora of choices in salads, some brilliant Pizzas with their toppings, sandwiches and Pan Asian curries, some Chinese delicacies and so on.

Skai at Quest Mall provides a beautiful rooftop ambience on a cool breezy evening making it a perfect destination to chill. The ambience at this place is appropriate both for chilling through the evening or for celebrating with friends. The bar menu has a cool collection of International spirits with the choicest of single malts, scotch whiskey, some expensive French wine and cocktails of the classic and contemporary variety. The food menu is quirky with modern twists with ingredients like a Confit Lamb Sloppy Joe Profiterole, Truffle Edamame Mousse, Jalapeno Brie Pops and so on.
