From Tenderloin Steak to Scallops, Asparagus and more!
PC: Grilled  Mushrooms at Taj Bengal, Kolkata

Bengalis and winter have a strange relationship. Winter is much coveted like a desire till such time the mercury starts to dip. All of a sudden the mufflers, sweaters and iconic monkey caps come out like the national costume of Kolkata. If the temperature does not go down enough, there will be sighs and if it is a record low, then there will be foul cries. I think I will summarise that Bengalis refuse to acknowledge that it is winters which is the best time in Kolkata for them as well as for visitors. One of the best parts of winter is an open-air barbeque and live grill which a few restaurants offer. In addition to Christmas celebrations, these are some of the best food and drink options to enjoy during winters.

JW Kitchen Winter special Barbeque - Wintery nights and twinkling stars calls for some hot piping food in the vibrant alfresco of JW Kitchen. A special barbeque has been set up for the winter and with live performances and a picturesque setting, this is a dining experience not-to-be-missed. There is an elaborate set up with live grill stations, with equal emphasis on vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies, along with terrific sauces to try them with. Garlic and Olive Tapenade Marinated Tenderloin Filet Steak, Jamaican Jerk Spice Marinated Spring Chicken, Grilled Asparagus and Pesto Marinated Grilled Cottage Cheese, Baby Potato are some of the show stoppers here.

Grill by the Pool at Taj Bengal - The blue swimming pool, a stream of floating fairy lights, tables set up with candles and a corner canopy from where you can hear the sizzle on the plate - nothing can be more romantic. Grill by the Pool at Taj Bengal has become quite a talk of the town over the years. This year, they have shifted their focus on Asian grills served on sizzler plates. Lemongrass and kafir lime have certainly become the star flavours in the various grills. Scallops with Scallion and a heady scent of lemongrass with birds eye chillies to start with and then move on to soft yet crunchy Asparagus rubbed with Vietnamese Yellow Curry. The Bouquet of different Mushrooms with Charred Kale having subtle Asian flavours is just enough to tempt the taste buds.
