Eating good food is always pure joy. Going out for a meal has become almost a trendy thing to do, whether it is with your family or friends. While most people enjoy the entire eating-out process, there are some of us lazy folks who would much rather eat at home and not fuss. The idea of getting dressed, trying to book a reservation and then actually going to the restaurant is not always appealing. If you fall into this category and want to lounge at home in your pajamas and eat in, then this article is up your street. We did a taste test and came up with some very interesting places that only do home deliveries but are worth trying out.
Little Food Daily – One of the most impressive delivery outlets is the Little Food Daily run by Bhakti Mehta of The Little Food Co fame. She has been running a catering service for quite some time now, but has expanded to a daily food delivery model that includes healthy snacks and dishes. Along with other cuisines, there is a lot of Mexican in this menu, which is a welcome change from the oily Tex-Mex you find at most places. Currently, they only operate in the Andheri area, but are expanding all over in the next few weeks.
The Bao Haus Co. – The hottest dish of the season currently is Chinese-style baos. These are soft, spongy steamed bun-like sandwiches full of delicious fillings such as pork, chicken or vegetables. Some people are so crazy about baos that they have opened a delivery outlet dedicated to these pillowy delights. The Bao Haus Co. is located in Colaba and restrict their delivery to the area, but you are welcome to go to them and pick up your baos. In fact, most patrons have no patience for delivery and hop across to get their steaming treats.
Tao 9 – If you are in and around the Lower Parel area, then Tao 9 is a great choice to curb all those Chinese and Thai food cravings. You can pick from Chinese dishes, Balinese and Thai curries or even Chindian favourites such as chicken lollipop, triple schezwan rice and American chop suey. If you are not up for any of that, then you can customise and make your own box full of noodles and veggies, or even make it a low calorie one.
Sushi Koi – While Japanese food is now easily available all over the city, not everyone wants to pay the steep prices at these restaurants. Due to the ingredients used, a meal out at a Japanese restaurant more often than not turns into a slightly expensive affair. To get your sushi fix at a decent price, we suggest ordering in from Sushi Koi in Bandra. Apart from the vegetarian and non-vegetarian sushi and sashimi options, they offer tempura, rice paper rolls and miso soups and will deliver to your doorstep.
Charcoal Biryani – If you are thinking about ordering in the ultimate comfort dish, it has got to be biryani. This rice preparation might differ from region to region, but it is a wholesome and comforting meal that is always one of the first picks when you think of ordering in. The team behind Charcoal Biryani is dedicated to fulfilling all your biryani dreams with their range of biryanis – Afghani chicken, butter chicken, lamb biryani, paneer makhani biryani and much more. It is easy to eat, as it comes pre-packaged with crispy birista and raita, and can easily be popped into the microwave to reheat without any fuss. There are nine outlets all across the city; you just need to call the one closest to you.
