Summer is on its last leg in Hyderabad, getting a small extension due to the delay in onset of the South-West monsoon. Hyderabadis are looking forward to pleasant weather ahead, though they will miss the summer fruits like mango, ice apple, and jackfruit. While Oh! Calcutta is hosting a promotion of Bengali delicacies using the summer ingredients, Green Park Hotel has an ongoing special summer menu of dishes in their trademark style of modern cuisine. Zega, the Oriental restaurant at The Sheraton is hosting an Indonesian food festival. A look at these and some other prominent food promotions in Hyderabad during June:
Grishher Khabar (Summer Food) at Oh! Calcutta, Begumpet, Hyderabad
Using summer ingredients like mango and jackfruit, this Bengali restaurant is offering a special a-la-carte menu of Bengali delicacies for a limited period.
Aam Posto Bora
Among the starters, Aam Posto Bora (patties of khus khus with raw mango) is an interesting dish. Echorer Dalna or the cumin flavoured raw jackfruit gravy is a traditional summer dish of the Bengalis which features on this menu.
While Aam Diye Daal (Bengali version of lentil cooked with mangoes) and Doi Potol are must-have dishes for the vegetarians, Kacha Aam Diye Macher Paturi (fish marinated in a mango and mustard paste and steamed inside a banana leaf) and Jhinge Pabda Aam Jhol should make the non-vegetarians happy.

The Indonesian Goreng Fest at Zega, Sheraton Hyderabad Hotel
The Indonesian Goreng Festival at Zega presents select a-la-carte delicacies from that country including Bakso, the lamb meatball soup, Gado Gado Salad, Grilled Chicken Thighs and Chicken Skewers served with peanut sauce.
The well-known Nasi Goreng, as well as the noodle based Mee Goreng impress.
Ayam Bakar Taliwang
Apart from this, one can also go for Badi Pandang (Crispy Fried Pork Belly) and Ayam Bakar Taliwang (Grilled Chicken with Indonesian herbs). For vegetarians, the menu has vegetarian versions of a few dishes apart from Herbal Pack (mushrooms in banana leaf).

For this summer, Once Upon A Time, the modern Indian restaurant at Begumpet has launched a special menu incorporating local summer delicacies such as jackfruit and ice apple apart from mango. The set menu has vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions.
Prawn Ice Apple Podimas
Prawn Ice Apple Podimas has a delightful mango sauce complementing the rawa crusted prawns and soft ice apples. In Kadai Chicken ( with a similar recipe with paneer as an alternative for the veg lovers), the chicken is stuffed inside a salan chilli served on the Kadai gravy. Kathal Roti Pe Boti is another top draw.
Jackfruit and Jaggery Kulfi
Jackfruit and Jaggery Kulfi and Poori Aamras with a twist (a cronut pastry replacing the Poori and Aamkhand ice cream) are the desserts served.

Beerizza at Arena, Taj Deccan, Hyderabad
Arena, the coffee shop at Taj Deccan is doing a promotion of pizza and beer throughout the month of June. The promotion presents a selection of 8-inch pizzas along with a pint of beer for Rs 599. 10 different toppings are listed on the tent card menu, from which the diner can choose two.
Chicken Salami, as well as Mushrooms and Broccoli Pizza are my picks from the list while Fish Chunks and BBQ Prawns are some of the other interesting options available.

Fabcafe concentrates on healthy recipes using unrefined sugar, alternative grains, and organic vegetables. Their special summer menu has some recipes which have been augmented by the use of healthy ingredients.
Thus, Jhalmuri Salad has quinoa and makhana in it, Baked Dal Samosa has a seed-laced crust, while Chicken Momo is wheat-free with the cover made of jackfruit flour and root starches.
Quinoa Kathal Biryani
Kashmiri Mutton Curry, Kerala Fish Moilee and Quinoa Kathal Biryani are some highlights from the main courses. Caramelized Banana Cake and Fruit Payasam are the recommended desserts.
