Back in 1977, Taj Hotels acquired The President Mumbai, which was later re-christened Vivanta President. The first signature restaurant that they launched was Trattoria. Over the years, Trattoria from Vivanta President, Mumbai gained a lot of popularity for serving good Italian food along with some real upmarket ingredients as well. For the first time, Taj Bengal is hosting a food pop up by Trattoria from Vivanta President, Mumbai at Souk and guests are lined up to get a taste of Italy in Kolkata.
Trattoria from Vivanta President, Mumbai food promotion at Souk will have most of their signature dishes from the menu and chefs have flown in with the right ingredients to offer the same. A beautiful Green Salad made of rocket leaves, greens, caramelised walnuts adding the necessary crunch, pine nuts, citrus fruits and some parmesan shaving is one of the must-try dishes from the antipasti. A sweet and sour balsamic dressing is so classic and never fails to impress. For something more exotic, try the Ciabatta truffle oil sautéed Forest Mushrooms, Garlic and Italian Parsley.
The pizzas are real crowd-pleasers. With toppings of pepperoni sausage slices, mushroom, black olives and bell peppers, there is plenty to choose from. The crust is just as thin as it should be and the toppings generous. With several kinds of pastas on the menu, Fettuccine in Pesto Basilica is just plain good. You can not go wrong with Garlic and Basil Pesto. With the sauce clinging on to each strand of the velvety Fettuccine Pasta, it is a comforting dish to have. For asparagus lovers, Asparagi e Pomodori Secchi Risotto is a must-try. Asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes pair perfectly in this risotto with excellent flavour and consistency.
The main course has a selection of grills, meats and vegetarian delicacies. Baked Spinach and Ricotta Cheese Dumplings with Parmesan Gratin is the recommended dish for vegetarians. The Spinach Dumplings filled with Ricotta sitting on a tangy tomato sauce loaded with cheese is an absolute delight. For meat lovers, there is Pollo Brasata Farcito, which is a favourite of many. Chicken Breast Stuffed with Avocado, Cheddar Cheese, sitting on Pepper and Garlic Sauce has the most appealing flavour combination. The sultry sauce adds a taste sensation to the Chicken Breast and is served along with Potato Wedges and sautéed green vegetables.
Trattoria from Vivanta President, Mumbai has some brilliant traditional Italian desserts in their menu. Other than the sensational Tiramisu, one must try the Almond and Berry Crostata. The crumb of this light tart is buttery and with the berry compote, it is not a dessert high on sugar but has just the perfect taste to end the meal.
This food promotion will continue until the 1st of March 2020 at Souk, Taj Bengal. It would be available for both lunch and dinner service.
