A 24-hour diner in the heart of Panjim, Aunty Maria is that aunt who everyone loves to head over too. Come during the wee hours of the morning and one will find the tables crowded, voices elevated in fun and laughter. There were many ‘Aunty Maria's’ during the 60s in Goa, who baked and took care of one's gastronomic needs, any time of the day or night with 'coffee and bites'. The ambience is warm and not premeditated; the display cases showcase fresh pieces of bread, cakes, chocolates and cookies along with a variety of teas, coffees and shakes. The pizzas and burgers are wholesome and juicy. The 'Filet O Fish Burger' is a crowd favourite. Go local with the crumb-fried 'Goan Mutton Chop'. It is a dessert haven where one can feast their senses on the 'Black Forest', Truffle', 'Choco-Walnut' and the works. The counters are filled with tiramisu, cookies, muffins, doughnuts, cheesecake etc. The list is never-ending. Her beverage counter gets 'energised' even in the wee hours of the morning from the coffee bar, dark roast Arabica, espresso, steaming hot cappuccinos, hot chocolate served in a kettle. A great place to leave from utterly satisfied.
This place is just the pure goan experience that reminds you of the old times. Very aesthetic restaurant. Most important part is this restaurant is open 24x7 . U can enjoy yourself coming here anytime. The staff was also good and helping. Talking about food. We had Club sandwich- Crispy bread with lots of veggies and cheeze slice in it. Hot chocolate- One of the best hot chocolate i have ever tasted. Must try here. Walnut Brownie cake- Awesome in taste as looks like a bread slice. Walnut truffle cake- Chocolate donut- Chicken chop- Must come here once.
Unless you're there partly for the AC relief from the heat, as I am, I recommend getting food to go. They have an excellent array of cakes and other sweets, but service can be slow--you have to ASK them to give you a menu, to take your order, to bring the bill, and and so on--each step. So if you're in a hurry, just go up to the counter and get it to go. But don't SKIP it--they desserts are great.
Well, I had a BLT on some kind of dry brown bread. The bacon was a kinda dry too, so the whole sandwich kinda just crumbled. I don’t know; I ate it all. Place looks nice and is comfortable to relax in, however no WIFI - bizarre to me. Took some chocolate croissants back to the hotel.
Aunty Maria is snacks and coffee shop in Hotel Fidalgo. one of the best place in Panjim if you want just want relax and have a quick bite. Does not have a great range of Snacks. But the snacks they offer are really Good and fresh snacks. People can also have small meeting over a coffee and lite snack. Over all a cool and nice place to be.
This is Hotel Fidalgo's coffee shop, very interestingly named Aunty Maria - typical name of a caring Goan catholic lady. Very aptly named. We were pretty amused to be welcomed by a beaming, affable lady dressed up as Aunty Maria - an imaginary character whose images are portrayed at several palaces in the coffee shop and also at the entrance. The theme of the coffee shop has been very well manifested. I was longing to have authentic cake in Goa but all the places I tried fell below the mark. The walnut banana and tutti fruiti cake I had here were much better, although not as scrumptious as an authentic Goan cake is supposed to be. Had sandwich and coffee too which were pretty decent. The best thing about this coffee shop is that its at 18 June Road, which is one of the most prominent location in Panjim. It was very convenient to drop in here during my visit to Panjim. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the dim lighting is very soothing and a big cheers to the eponymous Aunty Maria!
