An idyllic setting by the sea with a Goan spiced squid chilly fry on a hot afternoon with a coconut cocktail for a company is what entices one to Bogmalo Beach Resort. Not to mention that extra crunch in every morsel. This multi-cuisine establishment allows its patrons to revel between their traditional Goan fare and Indian preparations with some continental offerings. For the carnivores, look no further than the 'Prawns Peri Peri' with a fiery red masala pan-fried for that extra swig of your beer with a traditional 'Goan Vegetable Pulao' as an accompaniment to tone down the level of heat depending on one’s palate. Going Indian with one’s drinks, try the kebab section. It boasts of a great 'Jumbo Tiger Prawns Nawabi' and the every popular 'Chicken Kathi Roll' served in an egg paratha. For the more continental offering, the Chicken Alexander' aims to please. A pan-fried succulent morsel of Chicken served on a bed of noodles topped with asparagus, mushrooms and tomato cancasse finished with hollandaise sauce and gratinated. Do sign off with the 'Chocolate Mousse' for a groovy experience under the coconut tree.
1-5 July, 2015. Coconut Grove is the main restaurant and dining area in the impressive Hotel Bogmallo Beach Resort, Bogmallo Beach, Goa. The decor is very Goan: the long path-way to the restaurant has read-and-white tiles, and has windows which are hinged at the top, half-open, to keep out the rain and water spray. Two tables are in coves almost on the sea-shore, with the breakers being seen and heard on the rocks, just outside. And of course, there are a number of coconut trees outside, giving the place its name. The low lighting adds to the experience. We had our daily breakfast at this place, every day. The breakfast was a mixture of a lavish spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. There is a separate egg counter, where the chef dishes out an egg preparation to one's liking.
