Once past the narrow winding road, one is greeted by a small, quaint chic structure nestled in the fields of Nerul. A timeless charm engulfs you as you walk past a courtyard with a water body to an air-conditioned restaurant. Adorned with glass chandeliers, the walls showcase mirrors and religious icons with simple yet elegant settings on the table serving global flavours. One has the option of sitting at the bar with a black striated backdrop or head for the wooden deck which overlooks the pool and the green fields. You are spoilt for choice depending on your mood. The menu boasts of Indian, European and Goan preparations. Try the wood fired oven pizzas –The Margherita and the Pepperoni as well as the African Chicken Harissa Wings. The fig and Feta Salad is a crowd favourite.
Wow! I don't know if there are enough words to truly explain how wonderful this place is! But I'll give it a shot. Sol de Goa is an intimate resort set in an idyllic location close to a river, and flanked by vast open fields. It's set away from the crowds that throng the beaches, but close enough to be at the beach yourself in about 5min (and they can help arrange transport). We had a small reunion here in Dec, and booked 17 out of their 21 rooms. The place has been recently renovated, and the rooms are very spacious and luxurious. Everyone had a fantastic time! They have a beautiful pool outside that's under the trees, and it's by the deck so you can grab a bite to eat or have a drink. The whole atmosphere is extremely relaxed. The staff is beyond amazing! Everyone greets you with a smile and is quick to take care of any concern. The food is mouth watering. They have two chefs who are out of this world! The don't just prepare the regular hum drum food (unless that's what you want) but serve you tantalizing creations that have you craving for more. The food is fresh and bursts with flavour without being too rich or over the top. (Yes, I know this isn't Food Network, but seriously, eat here and you will know what I mean!) Given that we had about 10 kids there and zero complaints, it's testament to how delicious the food was. We hosted a party on their lush green lawn filled with beautiful flowering bushes and trees, and again, it went off without a hitch. I have nothing but high praise for everyone at Sol de Goa - from the folks who help keep the place running to the chefs to the management. Bravo! This is a MUST check out if you're looking for a high end, comfortable, relaxing place to stay that doesn't break your bank account. Enjoy!
There was a time when SOL on Thursdays was the go-to for JAzz, Drink & Dance. Now, it's wearing a run down look, cobwebs in the nooks, and they just dont have the turnover to have a more "fuller" menu or servcie offering. Look, its still cozy, its comfortable, people are friendly, check in manager Erin was superbly gracious and co-operative; but it didnt have the trappings you need to be all-inclusive. Maybe look at options ?
