A simple café on a touristy belt would be the best way to describe Ruta and Neville’s labour of love. An open courtyard leads to a quaint old Goan house, with a small café style seating indoors and an adjoining room that doubles up as a lounge. Known to lead with a robust breakfast of stuffed omellets, huevos rancheros and Kerala scramble with roadhouse styled pancakes making their way from the US served with fresh fruit and homemade syrup. The bite plates on offer come in great portions with filling juicy pork carnitas, spicy roast beef and shepherd’s pie for non-vegetarians. The Tuscan sandwich and the Asoan glass noodles are great options for vegetarians. Joy for the sweet tooth lies in the muffins and American styled cookies while you sit down and browse through a book or sip on a coffee. This is the perfect place for one on a holiday and a much-needed ‘breather’.
Oh! I and my friend Abhimanyu went there to celebrate just after finishing second in a State level Fifa world cup Quiz. We were delighted to be trying a new restaurant and we're happy that we chose Ruta. The restaurant was run by a lady and she wad ther only one around. She quickly showed us the menu and rushed off into the kitchen to cook it up for us. It was really awesome add the room filed up with nice smell grin the kitchen and it was great that we could hear her cook. I ordered Pasta Arabiata and was cooked really well. Though I had to add a lot of ketchup, I loved the food.
Ruta's World Cafe is a awesome place to have snacks any time of the day. It's based in a Old Goan house with a well kept Garden outside. The owner Is a very lively lady and attends to foodies personally on most occasions.
Ruta's has a awesome ambience and decor, and the food is interesting too, with a focus on the global (as opposed to local). So if you're looking for your daily doze of sorpotel and sannas, perhaps you're better off with the Souza Lobos and the Martin's Corners of the world, but if you are ready to experiment and game to check out how global influences are impacting the creative pulse of chefs in Goa, then Ruta's is the place to go. The management's responsiveness on social media also shows a genuine willingness to accept feedback and improve, which is what every eatery should emulate.
A very nice place to visit when passing by Mapusa! The atmosphere is quiet, and the food is good. The choice is not big, but the freshness, and the quality of the items worth to come here! And so nice to be in a quiet places so close to the crowds of the main streets nearby! Have to go back there!
The menu is deceptive. The pie crust of the quiche was so thick and hard that it almost broke my teeth. The chicken steak sandwich is actually a chicken salad sandwich and the server's are un apologetic when this is pointed out to them. The beef steak is really a minced beef patty!!
