Sagar Shree has garnered a reputation for its delightful cuisine, and my recent visit certainly lived up to the hype. The restaurant is well-known for its extensive menu that features a variety of Indian dishes. It’s an excellent choice for families or groups looking to enjoy a hearty meal without breaking the bank.

Ambiance: 4.5 Stars
The ambiance strikes a balance between casual dining and a family-friendly atmosphere. The decor is simple yet inviting.

The service at Sagar Shree was commendable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick to respond to our requests. The wait time for our food was reasonable, especially since I visited during off-peak hours.

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the food. We started with the Ghee Roast Garlic Paper Plain Dosa, which was perfectly named. The taste was heavenly! The accompanying coconut chutney and groundnut chutney were fresh and flavorful, although the sambhar could use some improvement.

We also tried Chhole Bhature, which was incredible. The bhature was light and made in ghee, while the chhole were perfectly balanced.

The buttermilk was also up to the mark.

And then came the Gulab Jamun—oh my! The texture, the softness, that melt-in-mouth sensation—just wow!

Value for Money: Without a Doubt
The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality of food served.

Pathetic and dishonest behaviour by the staff.

I asked for 1.5 kg of jalebis. The staff clearly told me that one plate contains 150 grams, so I ordered 12 plates (which should be ~1.8 kg).
However, when the jalebis were finally weighed, the total came to only 1.2 kg — a massive shortfall.
When I questioned this, they suddenly changed their statement and said that one plate is “120–150 grams”, which was not what I was told while ordering. Even then, the quantity wasn’t even close to 120 grams per plate.
As I was getting late, I asked them to cancel the remaining 3 plates. The staff refused, claiming orders cannot be cancelled, and insisted only 2 plates were short. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told he was unavailable. When I asked for the manager’s number, the staff called him themselves and misrepresented the situation. Eventually, they refunded me for only 2 plates, despite the clear discrepancy.
This was a clear case of misleading customers and short-weighting. Extremely unprofessional handling and a very bad experience overall.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are much better places in Gorakhpur and such fraudulent and unprofessional places should be avoided.

The ambiance of the restaurant is good Rates are comparative to other are higher side.

Clean, neat, great staff. Also, easily the best dosa I've had in Gorakhpur since the last 5 years.
