Raasta Café draws oodles of inspiration from the Reggae culture that originated in Jamaica towards the end of the 60s and presents it in a modern avatar. The vibrant, pastel coloured décor is punctuated with cut-outs of Reggae legend Bob Marley, vinyl wall arts, and paraphernalia such as bongo drums and horns. While the décor elements are retro, the design sensibility is modern and lends this watering hole a cheerful vibe. The food, as well as the drinks selection, takes well-worn paths. The grub is dominated by familiar bar nibbles and popular Indian and Indo-Chinese restaurant fare. There is also a little bit of continental and Mediterranean. Nothing is particularly imaginative or memorable, but it is the kind of fare that always works when you are out drinking with a group of friends. The cocktail selection is small and includes a few Caribbean inspired cocktails along with classics such as 'Screw Driver' and 'Pina Colada'. The cocktails could benefit from a bit more finesse and also a better selection of spirits. However, the popular order here are the hard liquors sold by the bottle (Addha and Khamba). The frequent live acts and DJs, reasonably priced liquor, and the peppy ambience make Raasta a great spot to unwind with friends without burning a hole in your pocket.
