Healthy eating does not have to be boring. Sante’s elaborate seventeen-page menu is devoted to dispelling the stigma attached to health foods. Santé began its journey in Pune and is the brainchild of Sonal Barmecha, an avid fitness freak. Unhappy with the existing health food options, she collaborated with Chef Shailendra Kekade to craft a space that would appeal to both food lovers and the health conscious. For the Hyderabad outlet, an opulent villa has been converted into a cosy and welcoming dining space. The façade of the building is reserved for a fashion boutique, while the restaurant is towards the rear end. This lends Santé an air of serenity, in spite of being on the busy Rd No 92. The grub at Santé is imaginative and draws inspirations from around the world. On offer are dishes as disparate as 'Biryani', 'Thukpa', and 'Mac n Cheese'. Fresh, organic produce along with whole grains and millets are used creatively to lend a healthy twist to the preparations. The pizza base uses ragi, while the hommus incorporates spinach. Many of the dishes are gluten-free, and there are several Jain and Vegan-friendly options on the menu. Even those on low-carb diets will be able to find something to nosh on. As they say, the proof is in the pudding and Santé does not disappoint. Once a dish gets a Santé makeover, it can feel very different from the original. But, that is not necessarily a bad thing. The restrained use of oil and spices often allow the nuances of a dish to surface. Many recipes incorporate additional elements, such as the 'Baked Khakra in Hummus, to avoid becoming a stereotypically dull health food. The expansive menu requires multiple visits to give it a fair spin but do not leave without relishing some of their guilt-free indulgences.

Healthy and clean eating is often misattributed by the crowd as just having multi grain salads, organic produce and cold pressed detox drinks - all having tasteless leafy greens and bland flavours. Call it our ignorance of nutrition or the brands that put this picture forth, but we all including me have fallen into this very same belief. And it was exactly what I expected when I visited Sante Spa Cuisine here in MLA Colony, Jubilee Hills. To my surprise though, it was this very visit which made me change my perspective towards healthy gastronomy and brought the fact "Healthy Doesn't Have To Be Boring" to light. Starting out in Pune, Sante Spa Cuisine's main belief has been that healthy eating should always be about enjoying everything in a balanced manner through great produce and ingredients which would make your meal clean and delicious. Using the freshest, wholesome, natural, organic and healthy ingredients, with their knowledge of combining these in a most simplistic manner they are all set to satiate the cravings of whole of Hyderabad. Even the ambience is kept calm and serene with relaxing colour tones to let you unwind and have a meal in peace. The place sports a brilliantly curated menu where each of the menu items are cooked from scratch, meaning not a single things is pre-prepared, be it cutlets or even pizza bases. Our course began with a serving of Strawberry Soy Shake and Charcoal Lemonade both of which were drinks prepared without sugar and yet sinfully indulgent. Strawberry Shake had actual strawberries blended in with soy milk giving that natural sweetness whereas the intimidating looking black Charcoal Lemonade tasted quite refreshing too with the lemon and honey combo. Mediterranean Quinoa Salad was the next in line which an absolute delight packed with the goodness of walnuts, apples and mixed greens. Though I am not a lover of salads and greens, it was that delicious dressing which made me gorge on the entire large portion of it. The appetizer round had Pan Seared Zucchini Kebabs for the veg having zucchini and pea cakes all prepared fresh and served with a kashmiri red chili chutney which was as scrumptious as it was filling. The non veg party had Thai Spiced Fish Cakes which was a fluffy mix of prawn and fish loaded with Thai flavours of lemongrass and galangal served alongside a sweet chili sauce and Spinach Hummus Chicken which was my personal favourite for the day. The creamy hummus had the nourishment of spinach and jalapeno served with house made multigrain Khakra and spicy chicken niblets - a plate which was wiped out entirely within 5 minutes. Mains again had brilliant fusion dishes like Chicken Bajra Risso - a take on Italian flavours using bajra for rissotto, Farm Fresh Pizza - multigrain crust handcrafted-to-order topped with cottage cheese instead of heavy greasy junk which satisfies your pizza craving without the guilt and Piri Piri Crusted Cottage Cheese - soft juicy paneer topped with spicy marinade and served in a bowl of broccoli soup. The desserts however were what absolutely blew me away. Without using white sugar or refined flour, they were able to create a Salted Caramel Mud Cake and Coconut Jaggery Ice Cream which tasted just as good, if not more that a dessert served in a normal dessert parlour. My pick was the Mud Cake which had the perfect crumbly consistency purely made out of wheat flour, paired with jaggery caramel giving that healthy take on my much loved dessert. The service too was on par with the food and ambience. The service staff led by the restaurant manager Anthony and owner Abhiram were all well trained in the menu items as well as the theme of the place which was quite good to see. The food takes a respectable 20-25 minutes of time to land to the tables which is understandable from the fact that everything is done to-order bearing the quality in mind. And judging from the food I got to try, the waiting duration too is absolutely worth it. All in all, I would just say even if you aren't a health enthusiast or a gym freak, Sante Spa Cuisine is a place worth trying out - not because they serve health foods but because they are a place where everything from start to finish is done the right way.
So. When we say healthy food, what comes to you mind ? Let me tell you, the very boring oats ? Salads ? No spicy things ? Correct ? I too used to think the same thing untill I was invited to a food review session at Sante Spa. To be honest , when I was told to come over I was not that excited to visit the place as I had my reservation about the food that was going to serve and I didn't want to waste the food , I hate when the food is wasted. So, with my reservation I started for this place , Sante Spa is located at Jubliee hills road no 92 with seating capacity of 120pax. So as soon as we entered the place we were greeted by the staff members very warmly and showed us the table where we were supposed to sit. The interior were quite exquisite , I loved it to be frank and I was hoping that food they were serve is tasty. As soon as we sat down we were told about the idea behind the restuarant and I was quite impressed by Thier ideology , serving all the normal dishes that we have in other restaurants but with a little twist , use all the healthy ingredients and make it more healthy which would not affect our health in any way. We were given the menu to order the food , as I was not aware about anything , I passed on the menu to my friend who accompanied me. He ordered quite few dishes. Okay let me ask you something , if I say I want you to change your perception about something , how would you proceed ? A good presentation may be ? Yes, I too was awestruck they way they presented the food items, people say half of the battle is won when you present the food in a good way and the people at Sante spa mastered it. All the dishes that were served to us were awesome , there isn't any dish that I can point out and say that it was not good, be it appetizer, main course or even dessert everything was awesome. Especially , the hummus , the pizza and salads, OMG, they were to die for. Please guy do visit this place , just to experience the food and I pretty confident that you wouldn't be dissapointed. The place is quite affordable 1500 for two people. VISIT THE PLACE ASAP!!!
I wanted to check out the much talked about guiltfree, organic menu, that is also high on taste, this place offers. Ambience and Comfort: Delightful Al fresco, patio style seating and a split level seating indoors. The white and green theme is very refreshing and adds to the fresh, outdoorsy feel. The downside - it is not a viable seating option thanks to the scorching summer. It was rather warm indoors as well. The two wall AC units were fighting a losing battle; woefully inadequate cooling, even after they brought in a pedestal mist fan as reinforcements! Food: very interesting menu and generous portions; I intend to go back to try some more stuff. Oats and date smoothie bowl - Delicious! I never thought I would say that about oats but it was truly delicious. Spinach Jalapeno and chicken hummus: didn't care for the spinach hummus, couldn't taste any Jalapeno flavor either; we didn't finish it. Mediterranean Quinoa salad: Delicious, loved the dressing. Farm fresh pizza with grilled lemon chilly chicken - well made, very filling and loaded with exotic veggies, cheese and chicken. The chicken was bland though, couldn't taste the tanginess of the lemon or the heat of the chilly. Pan roasted chicken breast with potato mash - I wouldn't order this again. The mash was smooth but lacked creaminess; didn't care for the sauce, it seemed like it was on the verge of splitting. Salted caramel mud cake - A tad too sweet but delicious. Would definitely order this again.
