The highway that this restaurant is named after stretches from Bangladesh to Afghanistan. The Grand Trunk Road, the restaurant, however, draws its inspiration from the lively eateries that dot the highways in Punjab. The sprawling dining area is colourful and brightly lit. A modified truck is the focal point of the décor that features numerous other dhaba and truck related paraphernalia. The elaborate menu at GTR has everything you would expect in a Punjabi restaurant and then some. Most of the dishes, however, have been tweaked heavily to cater to Hyderabad’s taste buds. Hotheads will relish the triple-spiced 'Tangri Oye Hoye' and 'Veg Kolhapuri', but the overdose of red chilly will irk anyone looking for authentic Punjabi fare. GTR’s lunch and dinner buffets are quite popular owing to the economical pricing and the elaborate spread. Starters are served on the table, while 'Chaat' and other street food is available from live stations. The buffet spread usually goes beyond Punjabi fare and incorporates popular dishes from other parts of the country.
I went here to have my lunch with the family. I opted for buffet option and it was really a treat for my taste buds. All options were really nice.
Cons: mosquitoes might bother you. Pros: Food is great. I am in love with the Paneer served here. I went many times just to had Paneer starters. Good ambiance. Great place to hang out with family, group, or couple.
place and decor is good. buffer spread was elaborate. veg food was okay in taste, non veg was better. the service was really bad. had to call the waiter like 10 times to just serve us. when the order was brought they did not even know what dish were they serving. need to really improve upon their service.
Amazing place to be. :) We had gone here on a weekday 26th sep (which was my sons birthday btw) with our friends :) and to our surprise it was almost full. :) Ambiance: If you enjoy open space restaurants, this is the place to be in. It gives you that highway roadside dhaba. They have a big truck at the entrance and also inside the place which looks very great. Also, the seats and all the roofing is made of wood. They serve water in a chai kettle which looks funny but interesting. Food: We had gone for their buffet spread which was quite yummy. Their starters included 3 veg and 3 non-veg. We tried all and my favorites were the chicken kebabs and the paneer tikkas. Both were very juicy and perfect blend of flavors. Also, they had some amazing desserts, we personally enjoyed the sheer kurma and the gooseberry moose and also the hot jalebis which were on the live counter. They had live counters of pani puri, dahi chaat, aloo tikki, pav bhaji, but we were so full with the starters and the desserts so we couldn't try that. Service: The starters were served on the table and it was pretty fast. So it was an evening spent well with our friends.
The grand trunk road restaurant is a place where they placed eateries in the beautiful scenario of trunks all over the place. But the food here is not as good as expected. Good place to spend time with family and friends. A must place for a foodie and a traveller.
