Zen is easily the finest Oriental restaurant in town. Zen has built its award-winning reputation under a string of expat master chefs and the menu emphasises the diversity and sophistication of new-age Oriental cuisine. The 80-cover fine-dining outfit now has Thai ex pat Chef Ananchai at the rudder, and the food, everything from Burmese fish cake curry to recipes picked from the villages of Thailand, is outstanding. An open kitchen bar with elevated seats forms the nucleus of what is essentially an interactive culinary theatre, the décor, soothing and classy, has an unmistakable Oriental touch with batten screens and tables laid with straw mats. The burnt-garlic scented dim sum clear soup, crisp duck tossed in a sweet and spicy honey chilly sauce and the lamb with pickle chilly and oyster sauce are fantastic picks. For deserts, try Zen’s signature Fried Ice Cream.
We had booked Zen for dinner on 21/1/2019 for six people! We were taken very good care of till the time we expressed our desire to change the venue to the open coffee shop, galaxy. It was my friends bday and after drinks we felt like changing the cuisine so we requested MR.Kaushik to book us a table there to shift but to our disappointment he told us no tables were free and waiting time would be 30 minutes at least. So we settled the bill and planned to leave! He did not even offer us the cake which I had previously ordered at the booking time.As we were going two of us thought to check and to our shock many tables were empty and the manager gave us a place instantly outside where we wanted. We called and asked Mr Kaushik about his wrong information and he got very agitated and told us not to blame him as he was running for us.The distance from Zen tothe coffee shop is hardly twenty steps. Can he explain where he ran?We called MR Sandeep, the manager and he cordially told us he had told the table would take ten minutes but was unable to comment why his words twisted.MR Kaushik and all staff started having an internal meeting and no one came to take our orders. We waited for good ten fifteen minutes and then we walked out.Park hotel lost business due to their staff and their ego clashes. We went out with a salty taste and were really upset that our friends bday was spoiled. We and our family and friends regularly visit Zen and love the food there but now we have a sorry image of the restaurant due to the Manager.Kindly check this and revert back if possible!
We had an amazing dinner at the Zen. Chef Mohan Singh & Manish took special care in serving us as i was to have gluten free & lactose free food. The dinner was extremely delicious!
The minimalistic Decor; the mystic ambience were what I noticed while entering the famous Kolkata based fine-dine. I knew what to expect there and again I wasn’t sure what actually to expect there! I saw the open kitchen; the light and dark ambience and realized I was not only going to have my brunch but to experience the food! The vibe was there! By the way, I am talking about my recent experience of Gin & Tonic Brunch at Zen, The Park, Kolkata. Zen for sure is a well-known name in the city and known for their vast Japanese, Thai, and Chinese spread. inoko Sushi, spicy cheese roll, yasai california maki, spicy tuna roll, prawn tempura maki and salmon ball sushi are worth having. The Salad Bar is impressive so are the disums such as f Asparagus & water chestnut crystals and Chicken & prawn hakkasui-mai. Cocktail section is great with wide variations and so is the general drink menu
