The simple but vibrant décor outdoors puts you at ease immediately. The seating indoors is cosy and in the evening this section transforms itself into a den for Sheesha lovers. The food menu is interesting with a clear focus on Indian food and some global offerings with a unique desi twist. The bar menu is equally exhaustive and varied. 'Kombdicha Rassa' as a soup sets you off to a good start and is rustic, but flavourful. The Dhungar Murg Ke Shole' is a must-try, as the smoked flavours of the well-marinated and spicy chicken, prove to be an absolute treat. The 'Chicken Mughlai Paratha' is outstanding. Vegetarian options abound. Among the Pan Asian and global offerings, try the 'Achari Chicken Satay' and chargrilled chicken steak. For a quick bite, burgers and pizza are available too. Considering it is essentially a bar, the emphasis on quality food is heartening. The food comes in generous portions and is aesthetically presented. The 'Cheesecake' disappoints, as it is not made in-house, but sourced from elsewhere. The staff is warm and polite and the service alert and efficient
Have been going here many years and although they now don't provide evening meals it is still a great place to stay. Full English breakfast is a must. Thanks again to Neil and Amanda for making us, and our grandchildren so welcome and comfortable. Roy Dart
I'm the coach driver on this school trip to the Island and this Hotel. It is a refreshing experience to find such nice hosts, Neil & Amanda made everyone welcome, the hotel is on a safe little street and is just a short walk from the coach park for me. There is a separate ensuite chalet for the driver that was absolutely spotless with tv, coffee facility and double bed. The food was all freshly cooked by Neil, excellent choice and one of the best English Breakfast I've been served in a long time. We had a packed lunch each day that was just right, a sandwich of their choice, a packet of crisps, fruit and a drink, perfect. So many times my school parties have been given packed lunches that are far to extravagant and half of it just gets left normally on the floor of my coach. The teachers tell me the rooms are clean and comfortable, the children absolutely loved it, Neil even arranged a mini disco on their last night. Many thanks to Neil & Amanda, hope to see you next year Stuart SBC Coaches
Where do I start. We had a residential trip with 24 year 5 & 6's for four nights. Neil and Amanda were fantastic. From the moment we got there Neil and Amanda could not be more helpful. The hotel is fantastic and the food is wonderful. A three course meal every night and a massive full English in the morning, let alone the pack up at lunchtime. The Hotel is located a short walk to the beach which was fantastic for the kids in the evening and the Hot chocolate at bed time rounded off the day well. Coming from a person who also runs a guesthouse Neil and Amanda go up and beyond as hosts and I recommend this business to any Head teachers who are looking to have a residential trip to The Isle of Wight. Well done guys and keep up the good work.
We have been going here for roughly 10 years and it is great. Food excellent and good and varied choice. Neil and Amanda are the perfect hosts. They made my 8year and 2 year old grandchildren more than welcome. I highly recommend it. Just a short walk to the shops and beach. Roy Dart
I recently visited St. Michael's for four nights and five days as a teacher on a school residential visit to the Isle of Wight. We took a group of 26 children. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were looked after, made to feel at home and were most welcome. Neil and Amanda are amazing hosts and couldn't do enough to help us, including taking a teacher and a poor injured lad to A and E. Jackie and the other staff were all so friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and the lounge and bar area spacious and homely. I am delighted to say that we will be returning. I am sure Neil and Amanda will extend the same welcome to all their guests. If you are looking for an ideal base for the Isle of Wight and Sandown in particular, then I heartily recommend St. Michael's. A super hotel!
