Entry into this plush but somewhat dimly lit lounge transports you into the colonial era. The décor is unmistakably vintage and the ambience replete with old-world charm. Spacious, this place offers ample seating options, but the area behind the bar is the quieter section. Cocktails, wines and spirits are what this place is famous for. The ‘Baroke Signature’ section offers interesting options but there are classics too. The food menu is understandably limited but has a few interesting Lebanese dishes, mainly finger food. The chicken goujons, red pepper hummus is a unique melange of textures with crispy, succulent pieces of fried chicken served on a bed of hummus and toasted bread. The hummus is well-made and boasts of the right textures and flavours. Creole spiced chicken tenders which perk up your taste buds is also worth a try. Oh! Shitake among the flatbreads is a real surprise and filling too. The food is reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. The service is attentive and the staff polite.
Baroke - Krishna Palace's fine attempt at reviving South Mumbai's dying night life with a twist. I love the concept of the place - the decor is vintage and extremely grand. Walking into the lounge, you feel like you might as well have walked in to Queen Victoria's study with a modern twist. The ambiance will blow your mind as soon as you step in and the food and the service will only help! I love how these guys are trying to promote the thought of healthy eating or even simply eating along with drinking! Baroke isn't just a place where you'd come, have a drink and head out. It's a place where you'd enjoy and party your night away. Service is quick, friendly and warm. we tried the following dishes: 1) Sea Beet Mus and the Moutabel: These were just to start the meal, served with a basket of lavash. bread sticks and bread. Delicious dips - all made in house. Fresh to the T! 2) Beetroot Hummus, Avocado and Quinoa: Individually I detest most of these items. The typically healthy eats but these guys managed to combine them together to create a lovely bruschetta sorta dish that i'd most definitely come back for. Also it helped that it was pretty as a picture. 3) Tapenade Crusted Fish: The fish was cooked beautifully well and the burnt butter sauce was just brilliant. 4) Pollo Pollo: Chipotle chicken risotto, brilliant, a must try and just words cannot be enough to describe this one. 5) Carrot Cake: All the bakery items are also made in the hotel itself. This one was a pure delight! The pastry was moist and full of cinnamon like its supposed to be and the mascarpone complimented it beautifully. Gave a very christmassy feel Loved the interiors, the service, the ambiance and the food. Can't wait to go back for more!
Tried visiting. They were like Members only ? I mean what BS is that. Because of this place I dropped my other plans. Be careful if you don't want to ruin your night. Instead chill at Leopold or Beer Stock exchange.
Sobo has got a new Chic Rustic looking lounge - The All new BAROKE. Gone are the days where it used to be a place where people used to come in post 11 pm. This place opens at 1930 hours - has some amazing lounge feel. Reminds me of a place at Breach Candy. Beautifully designed. Good feel and ambiance is class. Chef Aseema (ex Taj) along With Raj Shetty has worked well on the menu. It's compact/simple - Looks appetizing, at the same time may not look that heavy on the Pocket. What impressed me is the Cocktail menu. My gut feel - this is the going to be the IN thing in the days to come. Will start with the mezze platter - Comes under the section of Skinny dips. ================================================================ Aegean Sea Tzatziki (Aegean Sea - between Greek and Turkey) Medetterarian dip. Greek Yogurt (not that thick- Just perfect for a dip) the taste was a bit peppery as they used a bit of crushed pepper, the Garlic Hit and the freshness of MINT. Good texture. Olive oil. Garnish with thinly sliced cucumber. Loved it. Dead Sea Moutable - this is all about eggplant. This had smoked eggplant. Again the texture was good. Lots of Olive oil and Tahini. Topped with pomegranate and mint. Looked amazing tasted better. Levantine Sea Labneh - This is one of my favourite. Normally when we say labneh you expect white or a creamy colour. Use of paprika/Celery and Crushed pepper - wow. A good hit of spice/a bit pungent taste of celery and again crushed pepper for the colour and the taste. Fantastic texture at the same time a brilliant dip. LOVED it. Ohio River B.E.P Hummus - would love to have this anytime of the day. Hummus is normally made of chickpeas. Here the chef has used Black Eyed Pea (we call it Chawli) texture changes. Just a bit Grainy. Red Pepper and Pimento takes you to another level - Pimento also called cherry pepper gives a bit of sweet, succulent and aromatic taste. Overall this was NAILED All the above dips were served with 3 different types of bread. You can call for each dip OR they have Quartet - choose your dips. It's a MUST ORDER. Coming to Small Plates - ====================== Beetroot Hummus, Avocado and Quinoa - Lovely combination as the same time a fantastic presentation. Sour dough TOAST had Beet root hummus, topped with Quinoa and avocado with Micro greens. Had a lovely sweet subtle flavour. Just the hit required from the pickled beet. Freshness at its best. Chicken Goujons, Red Pepper Hummus - WOW loved this. Goujons (call it chicken tenders/Chicken fillets) Fried to perfection and light. Rested over Sour dough bread / Red pepper hummus. Red pepper gave a bit of spiciness and salsa cruda the tangy feel. Lovely use of the pea shoots. TCC Tacos - Since my partner was a vegetarian, it was paneer instead of chicken. A simple dish which we call Chilli Paneer but executed perfectly. Paneer soft, amazing chilli sauce with capsicum/onion/bell pepper - Complete comfort food. Served with Naan. Try this one. Char - Grilled Jumbo Prawns - Just a bit of a letdown. Personally found it a bit under. Tasted good. Corn Quinoa salad made up for it. Roasted corn, crunchy with Diced onions/tomato/Jalapeno - gave that fresh feel to the dish. Salsa Verde gave the flavour of herbs. Overall nicely balanced. Chilly Rellenos de Queso - No rocket science. Hugh jalapenos stuffed with cottage cheese and mozzarella. Great texture and nice balance of flavour. Hall mark was the batter. So thin could see through the entire stuffing. Starch level perfect. Served with Chipotle Mango dip which had the smokiness from the chipotle and the tangy sweet touch of mango. Good Combination. Loved it. Even An Artichoke Has A Heart - This is a flatbread. Nice thin crispy. Topped with artichoke, caramelized onions which have a bit of sweetness, Spiced tomato coulis (spicy sauce) and Scamorza which have the Smokiness. Topped with garkins and Micro greens. Lovely flat bread. Do try. The Wolf's Shepherd's Pie - This sounded interesting. Totally Indianised. Minced Chicken (done well) correct spices and herbs. With Pao Bhaji and veggies topped with a lot of mozzarella. Something Different. Baked served Hot. Nice balance of all the ingredients. Liked it. Desserts: ======== Off the Menu - It was Chocolate Ganache/Raspberry/cream/brownie - Found a bit hard. Maybe right out of the freezer. (Chef Just look into it) taste wise YUM. Served in a POT with a ROSE. Coming to the Signature Cocktails: ============================== Highland Research In Motion - Whiskey, egg white and the interesting use of Black Berry. Gives the sweetness. Can't know till it hits you late. Lovely Drink. Cinnamon Tale - JD whiskey, orange juice and Cinnamon stick - aromatic / strong loved it. Chilli Michelada - Must order drink - Vodka/Wheat beer/Tomato juice and Chilli - like a bloody Mary but better. The edges were dipped in Chilli Salt. Gives an instant Kick. Amazing. Presentation wow. Cucumber Rosemary Gin Tonic - did not try but from what I was told it was refreshing. Rosemary does enhance the aroma. Gin Tonic is an Old Classic Combination. At the end was served a Desert Cocktail - Just a bit sweet for me. Use of Kahlua. Overall - F A N T A S T I C Do watch out for this place guys. One place which will rock soon.

With its LED roof setup and the mesmerising DJ OM doling out his commercial and bollywood sets and that it is one of the very few clubs in Mumbai that is open until late night. Fairly priced bar as well. One visit to this place and you are sure to become a regular. Recommended for people who want to party hard.
