It is easy to spot this sweet shop at Bandra’s Pali Naka in the evenings. Just look for the crowds outside the chaat counter. Its ‘hygienic’ chaat – servers wearing gloves, mineral water used – are a hit with those who love street food but are afraid of hitting the grimy streets of Mumbai for it. They offer a range of North Indian sweets including seasonal specialties such as gajar ka halwa. The ghee levels of the sweets are slightly-toned down compared to those in North India. Lashkara, the vegetarian restaurant on the first floor, is a nice quiet air-conditioned place to sit down and enjoy kulchas, chole bhatures and papdi chaats and to transport yourself to Delhi in the middle of Mumbai.
