Mamagoto (10 Outlets)
The young breeds of restauranteurs are opening up their minds and are daring to venture into the unknown with their vision and passion. They are trying to experiment with the unlikely themes, giving the conventional dining experience a quirky boost of innovation. Out of many popular chain of restaurants that have invaded our dining scene over the years, ‘Mamagoto’ has somehow managed to climb the ladder of success in very short span of time. This chain of modern Pan Asian restaurants has given oriental cuisine a new breath of life, with its eye-catching eccentric décor and a menu that will make your mouth water in anticipation. Of all the outlets of Mamagoto in Mumbai, the one in Andheri West is considered to be the city’s finest. It’s opposite City Mall on New Link Road, an accessible location.
The look of Mamagoto may be striking and modern but the menu is a selection of old-fashioned comforting Chinese dishes. There are some Thai dishes on the menu as well to add diversity. As first course begin with, crispy lotus stem, hua hin highway rolls, street chicken satay, cheese & truffle oil dumplings, old school gyoza, straight up beans, spicy fried calamari, classic chicken wings, prawns wrapped in bacon, traditional peking dumplings, java grilled tofu and Thai chicken & water chestnut salad. Those making a quick lunch run can save time with their signature rice/noodle bowls. A la carte mains follows with, London’s china town chicken, mixed vegetables & tofu in a Malaysian influenced peanut sauce, crispy fish fillet, masaman curry, bali bamie noodles, prawn three pepper bomb, lamb with chilli & hoisin sauce and sliced chicken in black bean sauce.
The evening doesn’t end just yet. You still have to wrap up the meal the right way through the desserts like, home-made coconut & palm sugar ice cream, banofee pie, Mama’s home-made chocolate cake, home-made ‘American style’ chunky caramel sponge cake, coconut panko banana and sticky rice with mango. Mamagoto is unlike any other Chinese restaurant you have ever seen. Gone are the days of red Chinese lanterns and golden dragons, out here at Mamagoto the look is fresh and playful. Quirky pop Asian art is used to deck up the walls using bright eye-catching colours to bring the place alive. Screens made out of bicycle tyres, ornate mirrors, bright red gold tassel canopy, are key additions to the décor of Mamagoto. The place is reasonably priced in bargain.
