Mumbai is one of the few cities in the world to have two JW Marriott’s in such close proximity. Even though the Juhu JW has Mezzo, a successful Italian restaurant, Romano’s, at its Sahar sibling, tries to be different in terms of décor and ambience. Located in a high-ceiling room, it has a small, easily-accessible mezzanine, which serves as a bar area. Unlike many Mumbai Italian restaurants it does not pretend to be a pizzeria and the menu is heavy on pasta and has an interesting selection of crostini, which you can order as pre-starters. At present, suburban high-fliers are high-tailing it there because it is the hippest new Italian in town. With a bit of luck it will be able to hold on to that clientele once the novelty wears off.
