The Tanjore Tiffin Room

The Tanjore Tiffin Room is a restaurant in Andheri West, Mumbai serving Chettinad, South Indian and biryani. Known for Chettinad dishes; ideal for family meals and group outings.

Had an amazing experience here. Food was tasty and authentic, reminded me of my days in Bangalore. The Madras railway curry is one of the most unique curries I've ever had. Pepper chicken was punchy and well cooked. Kothu parotha felt a bit dry, though they did provide additional gravy to go along with it. We ordered a fried pomfret as well, since our single curry order didn't feel enough for 3 people. It could've been better. Prices are definitely on the higher side, however the flavours and authentic experience do make up for it. If you are confused with which flavour to go for, do get the tasting platter, it'll make things a lot more easier.

Tanjore Tiffin Room in Andheri West is a gem for South Indian cuisine lovers! The ambiance is cozy yet vibrant, making it perfect for a relaxing dinner(elevated by fresh mogras and candles✨). Recently had the pleasure of dining at Tanjore Tiffin Room in Andheri West, and it was an experience worth writing about!

We started with the Mini Gunpowder Idlis and the Yam & Jackfruit Cutlets—both were bursting with authentic flavors and a unique twist. Both the starters were…???!

Before serving the main course, we were treated to a tasting platter of all the curries and rice options—a thoughtful and engaging touch that helped us pick our preferences.

For the main course, we had the Uma Athai Curry paired with Appam Bread and Lemon Rice. The curry was rich and flavorful, while the appam was perfectly soft and fluffy.

The service was prompt and friendly, and the staff ensured we had a delightful dining experience.

Overall, Tanjore Tiffin Room offers a fantastic culinary journey through South Indian flavors. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic yet innovative dishes in Mumbai. Can’t wait to visit again!❤️

I have been to the tanjore tiffin room in bandra and loved it, so we came by to andheri to try out some more dishes. They had a special christmas menu from which we tried pork belly dish. Having eaten pork belly before, this felt more like pork ribs than belly because we had small bones in the dish. The taste was good though.

I again ordered the mutton pepper fry ( as I did last time) and somehow the dish didnt feel as mindblowing as last time.

Also ordered the mini idlis and these didnt disappoint.

Wanted to try some good authentic sambhar and that was really tasty with sada dosa.

The highlight of my meal might have been mysore pak since I have never had one in my life and I am now a fan!

First time at this location , Feels like it’s a hidden gem in Versova. With two locations in the city, after visiting this location , I can confidently say that they're consistent across all their locations . Best Tamilian food in Mumbai !!

The outdoor seating area is a tranquil vibe , the hand made wall painting and hanging monkeys add to the space . perfect for a relaxed evening out or an afternoon brunch . The vibe is lively, yet intimate, making it an ideal spot for dates or family meal. The lamps in the evening are a nice touch.

cocktails are crafted perfectly to accompaniment their food menu . Garden galata being my favourite . However the server missed that the dehydrated ginger in the cocktail had mould on it .

The tasting platter is a revelation - a carefully curated selection of Tamilian delights. Basically you get to try almost everything on the menu . But the real showstopper is the Madras Railway Curry, a personal favorite that's clearly a crowd-pleaser (it's on almost every table!). Don't forget to save room for the Mysore Pak - it's heavenly!

And the banana is a nice touch .

So, I decided to embark on a culinary journey to The Tanjore Tiffin Room in Andheri. Let me tell you, it was quite an experience.
First off, the ambiance is interesting. It's like they've tried to recreate a vintage South Indian home, but it ended up looking more like a quirky antique shop. The kind where you'd expect a dusty old genie to pop out of a lamp.
Now, let's talk about the food. The menu is a labyrinth of South Indian delicacies, each more intriguing than the last. I ordered the classic Masala Dosa. When it arrived, it was a behemoth of a dosa, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was like a giant, edible pancake. But here's the kicker: the sambar and chutney were so spicy, I think they accidentally added a ghost pepper or two. My taste buds were doing a fire dance!

The service? Well, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The waiters were friendly enough, but they seemed a bit overwhelmed. I swear, my dosa was on a leisurely stroll from the kitchen to my table. But hey, patience is a virtue, right?
Overall, The Tanjore Tiffin Room is a unique dining experience. If you're a fan of spicy food and don't mind a bit of chaos, then you might enjoy it. Just be prepared for a wild ride!

The best restaurant experience so far!

The restaurant welcomes with a rustic interiors and friendly dogs who might have been overfed. Haha. But it will literally transport you to the South India vibes!

Food is top notch but the service is what the restaurant should be famous for. The way the restaurant functions will definitely lure you to visit another time. Though drinks were not my favourite but the food was delicious!

Tried out their yam cutlet, dal vada, prawn mango salad for starters. Prawn mango coconut salad was craaazzzyyyyy! Never had anything like that!

The alcoholic drinks were great but didn’t like my sour patch mocktail that much. Then we were showcased a sample tray which showcased 16 currys and items as a tasting menu.

Personally, veg stew, korma, red and green curry were my favourites. Loved the coconut rice as well! Ultimately we went with steamed rice, appam, porotta, vegetable stew, shrimp coconut red curry, and masala papad.

Loved them all!!!! I could get drowned in taht vegetable stew and not complain a bit about that. Hahahah. Papadum literally melted on our mouth. Having a boll of approx 4.5k for 3 people, we were also provided with 4 mini bananas to end our me.

Definitely visiting again!!! Highly recommended

Diwali celebrations at The Tanjore Tiffin Room Versova and delighted to be here to taste traditional curry dishes with clean flavour , taste and best sensorial experience. Loved the coconut Korma, Puliyodhara rice dishes. We especially loved the cocktails and cocktail selection of Green Lantern, Orange Mojito and Watermelon coolers. The appetisers were excellent beginning and meal that followed was divine sensorial experience. All in all a must visit.
