Most foodie visitors to Mumbai are usually directed to Trishna and told that it serves authentic coastal sea-food. That’s why it is usually packed out with tourists and foreigners. How you define “authentic” however is largely a matter of opinion! The restaurant’s signature dish, the Crab in Butter-Garlic Sauce originated on the restaurant’s ‘Chinese’ menu (yes, they have one!) and is largely unknown on the West coast of India. Many other dishes are improvised or invented but they have become so popular that hardly anyone cares that they are authentic only to the Fort area of Mumbai.
