A paradise for every seafood lover, this fine dine restaurant will make your taste buds happy. The subtle interiors and well-lit ambiance make the experience pleasurable. Known for its well-flavoured food, they serve an array of seafood dishes. Stir Fry Crabs are Butter Garlic Prawns are a great pick for appetizers. Tangy and mildly spiced Fish Curry is a must-have and can be paired with rice. One must order Clams Koshimbir, a popular dish amongst the regulars.
Gajalee is reputed for seafood. Awesome thali with fresh fish and specially the Fried Bombill or the Bombay Duck (its a fish).
Great experience again at Gajalee. Lovely food and people. Very courteous service. Though we reached close to end of lunch session, they provided memorable service. Food was delicious. We ordered Hot & Sour and Clear soup, Tandoori Chicken, Pudina Fish Tikka, Veg Paneer Tikka, Chicken Tikka masala, Spl Surmai fish Curry, Crunchy Paneer Cheese Masala, Dal Tadka, Amboli and Ghavne. 2 kulfis were complimentary as part of deal on EazyDiner.
We’re a regular at Gajalee in Pune. We like this place because we always find a place there ( and our favourite table) even during the weekend. Went there last Saturday and courteous service started from the gate keeper who came forward with a smile to guide us to park the car in front of the restaurant in a secured parking space. We also found our favourite table it’s a six seater coupe just after entering and since it’s semi open it also not claustrophobic. The table is important for us as we have a special child with us who at times can be noisy and we try to see that he is not disturbing other guests. This Saturday we went there again. Unfortunately they didn’t have crab , because of rainy season there was no supply. All their supplies to all restaurants in Mumbai and Pune are from common source. So we ordered lady fish fry and pomfret tandoori. Both the fish were absolutely fresh. The best part of their cooking is that you can smell freshly ground spices and just the right amount of cooking. It’s not oily and not over cooked. We also ordered chicken tikka for our special child who doesn’t eat fish. The chicken tikka was excellent and quite different from usual that you find in a restaurant- again, you could smell fresh spices! They have a bar but we usually order only beer. The service as usual is excellent it’s beyond professionalism- they are very kind and tolerant people. I have never faced or seen any sign of irritation in them inspite of our special child making noises and not following dining etiquette always. Thanks Gajalee for such smiling service always.....
I have been a frequent visitor to their restaurants in Mumbai and went to their Pune outlet only to be thoroughly disappointed by their service. Date of visit: 07-Jul-2018 (Saturday) Bill Amount: 1469.00 Before I write further, let me tell you clearly there were no issues with the food, but I think the service staff working there spoiled our mood in a worst possible way. So it was past 3pm and we called the restaurant at 3:21PM on their number (02026132222) specifically asking them if they will be able to serve us if we reach there in 15 minutes. They politely confirmed and so we went there happily. While we were having the food, they asked whether we want more rice. We happily obliged and saved some of the gravy for later so as to have it with the rice. 10 minutes later, we were told the kitchen is closed and they will not be able to serve rice. We told them they should have checked it before they asked us for more rice, but they did not have a convincing reply. FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN CAME WHEN THEY GAVE US THE BILL AND INSISTED US TO PAY WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING. WHEN WE TOLD THEM TO WAIT, THEY TOLD THEY NEED TO GO HOME AND SO WE NEED TO PAY ASAP. WE INSISTED FOR THE MANAGER IN CHARGE OF THE SHIFT TO SPEAK TO US, BUT WERE TOLD HE HAS ALREADY LEFT FOR HOME!!! Lessons to be learnt by the restaurant or staff: 1. Should deny guests at entry or on call if they cannot serve or approaching kitchen closure time 2. Should ask to repeat order only after confirming that the kitchen is open and they will be able to serve it 3. Clearly communicate when the kitchen is about to be closed so that the guests can place their orders before closure 4. NEVER EVER give the bill and ask them for payment before they have finished eating. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST RUDE THINGS TO DO IN RESTAURANT BUSINESS.
Gala never disappoints in Pune and Mumbai. The appetizer special Shrimp are very well prepared. Crispy and golden. The Sukha Lamb and Masala Lamb Chops are divine. Eat with Appals and go to heaven here.Finish off with a Caramel Custard. Yummy.
