What truly sets Punjab Grill apart is the menu. The chaamp tajdar, for instance, is lamb chops braised in liquor and infused with clove, black cardamom and kasoori methi; the tandoori duck is cured in an orange marinade with a hint of saffron; and the Norwegian salmon tikka is resplendent of dill, fennel, ginger, honey and mustard oil. The malai chena pedas curry sees cheese balls simmered in a methi malai pyaz gravy, while the kadai jheenga is a gravy of jumbo prawns fried in coriander seeds, black cardamom, tomato masala, pomegranate and pepper – have it with delightful khasta roti or soft zafrani paronthi naan. Guchchi pulao brings you dum-cooked jumbo morels stuffed with royal cumin and spiced milk cake in basmati rice. Meat lovers, this is one place you cannot go wrong at, from the raan-e-sikandari to the patiala shahi machchi.
Had high expectations seeing the review but have to say that disappointed after the visit:Pros:Ambience & Location (In Phoenix mall)Food Quality & quantity (1 curry sufficient for 2-3 people)Veg Kurkuri (In Starters)Rola Cola (Mocktails)Cons:Food tasteService (extremely slow, almost took them 45 mins to prepare 2 curries and 3 roti)Cost (too high, 120Rs. for a plain roti)Bharwaan Khumb Peshawari (In starters, very dull taste)Paneer Lababdar (main course, they say it's the specialty of this place but not found it up to the mark)
Excellent service by Mahadev and his team. Good suggestions by him with regards to wine. Also suggested the dal pancharatni which was really very good. Amazing place and was a very good experience.
Punjab grill is a place where you can experience some great Indian food. The place serves mostly North Indian and Mughlai Cuisine. Located in one of the biggest malls in Pune that is Phoenix mall. This place is well known for its grilled starters and aromatic curries. They have some soul satisfying Indian food. This place is meant for those people who love Indian food and want to spend some good time with their family and loved ones
Have always loved eating here for the tasty punjabi food. The only drawback is that being vegetarians menu does get repetitive as much has changed in the menu since it has been set up. But surely a must go to place for finger licking food.... the paan shot served at the end tops it all.
I can't say I didn't like the food as I did but the two stars disappeared for only two reasons. 1. We were a group of people travelling for business and don't know much about Indian food and our order was simply too much and the waiters didn't tell us anything about ordering too much and we ended up having 2 times more than what we needed. 2. There was some confusion in ordering and a very small plate was sent to us by mistake (which obviously we were charged for) when we told them we didn't order it (replaced it with someone else) they said we have ordered it and we have to pay for it. Clearly paying for it was close to nothing but the attitude wasn't right.
